Texas A&M football coach Kevin Sumlin on Monday night indicated that
sophomore Kyle Allen’s edge in game experience was perhaps the primary
reason he was named starting quarterback over heralded freshman prospect
Kyler Murray.
“I think (Allen) has got a real sense of what everybody else is doing,” Sumlin said after practice. “His knowledge of the offense and his knowledge of defense schemes and blitzes have certainly improved. Because of his knowledge and because it’s improved, he’s a lot more relaxed than certainly he was at this time last year.”
