Gary has had it with social media and cell phones...........wonder what the younger generation would do with out cell phones, ipads, laptops etc..........hell we had pay phones cost a quarter (local call) and they were on most street corners in the big cities.....

I had one of the first car phones.......the damn thing took up my whole trunk and cost a fortune.....

Coach talks about how the team has to play smarter before they can play better....to me that is obvious and something all can agree on. The question is why with a veteran team has that not been happening. He calls the same plays and runs the same O. On D, Starkey been doing the same stuff since he has been here.
The players must be smart...they were all accepted to Texas A&M! Cwalk is in engineering...Hillsman got in to the Mays biz school. So...what is the obvious conclusion? Coach even has Syd Colson helping out for the second year.

Discussion please!

Being smart and being smart on the court (or in the classroom or the lab) are related but not the same. I'm a prof with more experience than the girls have been alive, and I still have to watch out for making dumb, careless mistakes. Often the smart and talented ones have the most difficult time establishing the right habits, because they were able to get by on sheer talent for most of their lives. I see this all the time in the classroom. And the classroom is way easier than what athletes do. In general, it's not split-second timing, and you don't have other students trying to make you fail.

These players were smart on the court in HS.
This is an experienced team except at the 5 position when Hillsman is in.
We have played 21 games this year and have had a lot of practices.
IF I hear correctly, GB is going to keep on with what he has been doing and hope things get better.
Maybe light bulbs go off and execution improves. The t.u and GA losses should have been wins.
The Washington loss had to do with travel, illness and a couple of Washington players not missing many shots.....but should have been closer. UT and USC are simply better, deeper and more skilled...and they
both played us on their home courts.

IMO, either....
1. the sets are too complicated on O
2. the coaches have not gotten through to the players on how to run the sets and the various options off of each one
3. these players are more suited for a different type offense using their various strengths
4. the players are frustrated with the constant info from the sideline to the extent they can't just play and use their abilities...instead they seem to be hesitant and confused.

On D, why can't a combo of a 6'3", 6'5" and 6'7" players avg. more than 3 rebounds between them?
Surely that has nothing to do about being smarter? Or does it....do they not know how to block out, be ready to go after the ball if it does not come right to them or what?

Seems to be questions about player development. Who is playing better than they did last year...Achiri for sure....likely Curtyce when she gets in....Chelsea a little better. Others have in a game here, a game there,
but how many of the others are consistently better, or markedly improved?? And why is that? Is it because they need to get smarter on the court? How do they get smarter? Is that part of coaching?
