Texas A&M Basketball
“Not really, because I came in not expecting to play that much. I just came in trying to figure out my role like the guys are doing now and it ended up being one that needed to play in a game. I took full advantage of it and just tried to play as hard as I could, but coming in I just tried to sacrifice whatever I could for the team.”
Get to Know ... A&M guard Alex Caruso
On his feelings toward team so far and the future…
“It’s very positive. We’ve gone 5-1, obviously we’d like to be 6-0 but we had bumps in the road so far. I’m really proud of how the new guys have come along and played into their roles and kind of adjusted to the games."On growing up in College Station…
“Yeah, I was actually a ball boy for some of the former teams so I would come to all the games and I would get excited like everyone else did so it was a big goal for me to try and come here.”On memorable stories from being a ball boy…
“I was here for all the big games. I was here when they played Blake Griffin, Acie Law's shot against Texas, I rushed the floor and got in trouble for that from my dad. I mean all the big games I was there, under the basket cheering them on.”On the impact of a packed Reed arena during a game…
“I mean it’s huge, anytime we can get people to come in here and yell its daunting to the other teams and they think twice about what they are doing and that takes them out of their offense and gives us life and gives us energy to run around and play harder for them.”On the role his dad had in his development as a player…
“I mean he would always talk to me after my games and just kind of mess with me when I was younger. As I grew up and got more serious with the game he would talk more about different plays and different strategies to use and I’ve talked to him countless times about stuff going on with me, with the team and just try to get a good insight because he has a really good mind and basketball knowledge. It’s great to have someone to go and talk to whenever I want.”On pressure to perform as a freshman two seasons ago…
On being a leader on and off the court…
“It’s really easy with a guy like Jordan (Green). He’s a guy I look up to and I think if you had to call one guy a leader it would be him. I think other individuals do a great job leading us as well. He helps me out a lot because I have questions I’m not sure of and just moving on and talking to the other guys, I mean we were in that position so we know what it feels like. It’s really easy to bounce information down to them whenever we can.”On what it would mean to make the NCAA Tournament...
“That’s the ultimate goal. That is the light at the end of the tunnel that we have been working for and we owe it to the guys that haven’t been yet that are getting to their last years, me, Jordan, and for Kourtney to go again. The guys who have put in a lot of time, I think we owe it to them to get there.”Never miss the latest news from TexAgs!
