Media Days: SEC asserts its strength as a league

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Fiery South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin doesn’t mind bucking the establishment.

For example, the in recent years the Southeastern Conference has been given a reputation for playing weak basketball.

Martin vehemently disagrees with that. He contends the SEC is one of the nation’s best basketball conferences.

But he points to losses to prove it.

“Kentucky lost five or six (SEC) games last year and they played for the national championship,” Martin said.
