• Isaiah Golden has withdrawn from school and we expect him back this summer.

• We're going to talk about quarterbacks during our scrimmage. Each guy is going to get about 35-40 plays per quarterback which is about a half of a game.

• Howard Matthews has been playing very well. He has a real sense of urgency about him.

• Leaving Deshazor Everett at corner has really benefited him and the rest of the defense. Davonta Burns continues to be impressive. Floyd Raven and Clay Honneycutt have been back there too.

• Corner-wise we have some experience with Harris, Sezer, Ellis, and Everett. Where we need the work is safety.

• The evaluation process for safeties and linebackers comes during live action so we can see tackling and playing the ball in the air.

• Zaycoven Henderson has continued to impress. Justin Manning has that twitch to him like he did in high school.

• It'll be good with the new rule to meet with guys over the summer, especially the new recruits that haven't been here yet.

• We need Justin Manning to come on, and I really like his progress so far.

• There is no change in the Darian Claiborne timetable

B.J. Anderson

• Germain Ifedi has done a nice job transitioning from guard to tackle. We're working quickly on his techniques from the tackle spot.

• Avery Gennesy is backing up Ifedi on the right side. I'm impressed with how well he's picked the offense up. He rarely misses an assignment, but he needs work on his technique.

• Jermaine Eluemunor is backing up Joseph Cheek at right guard. We're cross-training all those guys for both right guard and right tackle.

• Ifedi is a legitimate candidate to be right tackle starting the season.

• Garrett Gramling can be a starting left guard. When you add Jarvis Harrison, you have three guys from two spots (Joseph Cheek). We'll see who wins the spot in fall camp.

• Mike Matthews has total control of the offense. He has as much freedom as any center I've ever coached.

• We're struggling with some consistency from Matthews. We're trying not to get him too focused on his weight, because he's one of the strongest guys we have. As long as he keeps concentrated on his hand work, he'll be in great shape.

• I'd like to get Cedric's weight up a bit to give him some more anchor and bull rush. Right now he almost looks like a tight end.

Mike Matthews

• I'm a lot more comfortable with the offense this year. I don't question myself when I'm making calls.

• I like all the quarterbacks. It's going to be fun to see how it turns out.

• I'm always in the nutrition center. After the summer, I'll probably get my weight up a little bit.

• We have a lot of athletes on our offensive line. The guy that makes the most effort into work will win the offensive line spots.

• I trust Gramling and Cheek with the calls and locking down their guys.
