Locker Room Chat: Space reacts to second UT-beating three
On making another game-winning three against Tennessee...
"First I just want to thank Coach Kennedy for drawing up a play for me even though I was struggling throughout the game -- I think I was maybe one for three, one for four from the three point line -- but he drew up the play for me, had confidence in me, which made me have confidence in myself. I saw I had a one-on-one with Stokes, so I just took advantage of it and took a step back; he backed off, so I shot it."On whether the game-winning three in Knoxville had anything to do with Kennedy's decision...
"That could've been it. He's seen me hit those kinds of shots in practice and I think from that and from the last shot I hit he just had confidence in me. My head was kind of down throughout the game, so my confidence was getting low, but when he drew up that play for me I just knew I had to rise up to the occasion. So that's what I did."On his offseason practice leading to this...
"When I was making my move -- the play was for me to get over to the basket and try to draw a foul -- when I drove he was playing the drive, so I made a dribble move to step back and I waited on him because I thought he was going to close out. He didn't close out, so I shot it. And I shot it with confidence, and it went in."On his games against Tennessee...
"Some people think I must have a thing against Tennessee, but I just shot the ball with confidence and that was the result."On UT blowing two chances to win it and A&M getting new life...
"In my mind I'm thinking, 'This has got to be fate.' He misses the free throw and the guy hits a three but they call a timeout. We had chance after chance after chance and our team brought it together, the coaches rallied us and it was like, 'We've got to win this.' They gave us a chance. They could've closed it out, they didn't, they gave us a chance and we closed it."On Alex Caruso's game before he fouled out...
"He was very huge. He always is. AC is our leader. We look to him to find shots and all that. He's like the general on the court. When he was off the court Fabyon played really well. But yeah, having AC off the court for overtime and still pulling off the win is just incredible because that's really hard to do with your leader off the court."On what it does for his and the team's confidence...
"For me personally, it raises my confidence because now I know I can make a shot. For our team's confidence, we finally got back-to-back wins after a while and we want to keep going after that. We started off SEC play 3-0. We know we can get games in a row. And we know we have to. There's no time to talk about it. We know we have to do it now. It makes our confidence really high because we just beat one of the best teams in the SEC."Never miss the latest news from TexAgs!
