Texas A&M 52, Rice 31: Defense in review

This one is tough. Not because I’m having a hard time determining whether A&M’s defensive performance was good or bad (here’s a hint: it wasn’t good) but because I’m having a difficult time figuring out what the realistic expectation level was entering Saturday’s opener.
The Aggies gave up a lot of yards, they gave up a lot of points and, for extended stretches of the game, the Rice offense made it look easy.
