Post-spring snapshot: Improvement in secondary is key

Accounting for the collection of returning talent and an impressive spring, the defensive backs seem set to be the A&M defense's strong point in 2013. For that to happen, tackling and deep coverage must improve.

Texas A&M defensive backs coach Marcel Yates admits he didn’t know exactly what kind of secondary he had at the beginning of last season.

Some would question whether he really knew at the end of year, too.

The Aggies’ secondary showed the ability to make big plays and the tendency give up bigger ones. They could shut down some teams and get shot down by others.
