Some notes on a former commit
Last week, the Aggies went in-home for a visit with current Oklahoma commitment DaShaun White. After the in-home visit he was still committed to Oklahoma, but he did leave the door open for the Aggies. He was still open to hosting A&M for in-home visits and he did not completely shut down the thought of taking another visit to A&M.A&M still has a good relationship with the family which is key, and the line of communication remains open. I would not count out the possibility of another A&M in-home visit in the near future, but White did tell me it will not be his planning if it happens.I was also told by a few industry sources that White has told them he is locked into Oklahoma right now. I do feel like A&M cracked open a completely shut door last week, but I think the flip is a longshot. I also like that the A&M staff continues to pursue.
Former Texas A&M commit meets with coach Elko
This evening, Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko made an important visit to see Richland linebacker DaShaun White, who recently flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to Oklahoma. The impression was a good one. "He's a solid guy with fire to match coach Fisher," White said. "He's a good family man." Coach Elko also had a couple of messages he wanted to make sure White heard - 1.) that White remained a priority for Texas A&M and 2.) that he felt Texas A&M was still White's home. After the meeting, White still listed his commitment to Oklahoma as 100-percent, but he added "but he had some really good points." Jordan Moore also continues to recruit White for the Aggies, and he said Texas A&M coaches may return for a visit next week depending on White's schedule. We will see how open the lines of communication remain between White and Texas A&M, but tonight's meeting seemed to be a productive one for the Aggies.
A couple of DFW notes - Updated 10:20 PM Wed.
10:20 PM UPDATE Coach Elko stopped by Dallas Bishop Dunne today, which is a place the Aggies have seen a rise in momentum since his arrival. 2019 S Brian Williams had Notre Dame high on his list before coach Elko moved to Texas A&M, and tonight he called coach Elko "one of the most genuine coaches I've been around." He is not just interested in A&M because of coach Elko's addition to the staff. He says the entire staff has his attention. The Aggies are also making headway with Williams' teammate 2019 ATH Marquez Beason. He also sees a lot to like in coach Elko "He's very energetic and loves the game of football and Texas A&M, " Beason said.Williams does not have a visit scheduled yet, but I will be surprised if Williams and Beason do not make it to Aggieland for a visit sooner rather than later. As Luicci mentioned, Coach Fisher has also been active in the DFW area, and two of the state's top 2019 receivers are planning to visit College Station. Colleyville Heritage WR Kameron Brown has been committed to UCLA since last spring, but has kept an eye on A&M throughout the process. He plans to visit A&M for a Junior Day or a recruiting event of that nature. Allen's Theo Wease also tells me he plans to schedule a visit to Texas A&M. ***********Original PostLB DaShaun White talked to Coach Elko today and will meet with him about 6 tonight.IMO getting a foot in the door is all you can ask for right now, and this is A&M's foot in the door.Coach Elko also went by Bishop Dunne as Brauninger reported this morning. I hear the visit went very well. We'll try to catch up with Willaims and Beason for more but since Elko has arrived in College Station their interest has increased
