NLA Texas Top 100 Recruiting news, notes, and thoughts
I spent the afternoon in Frisco at the Next Level Athlete Texas Top 100 Showcase and got to see a few ball players go to work. First the recruiting notes Lancaster (TX) 2028 S and long time target James Foster III visited Aggieland in the fall and Mike Elko and Ish Aristide have made a strong impression along with the A&M culture. There is plenty of competition right now with the likes of Texas, Notre Dame, SMU, TCU, Miami, and others already with offers on his mind. Right now he is focused on the track, and while he doesn't have anything scheduled I expect we see him back in College Station this spring. Fort Worth (TX) North Crowley 2028 WR Damarion Mays was planning to visit College Station in January but the weather had other plans. He did not have a date but he plans to be back in College Station this fall. Texas, Ohio State, and LSU were a few schools he mentioned. It's early, but there has been a lot of Longhorn chatter there, and getting him back on campus is an important step for the Aggies' chances. Allen (TX) 2029 QB Ty Snell was the only QB on hand holding a Texas A&M offer. He was one of the youngest in the group, but he threw some real darts out there. He's a mature kid and handles himself well out there. He checks the boxes from a size, arm, athletic, and mental make-up standpoint, and it is not hard to see what has college coaches excited.Allen (TX) 2029 QB Ty Snell@TySnellQB1 | @alleneaglesfb | @NLAShowcase | @TA_Recruiting pic.twitter.com/YL6pQcn2Hx— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 15, 2026
Lancaster (TX) 2027 RB Victor Scott hasn't been hearing a lot from the Aggies lately, but he received an offer last spring and today he mentioned the Aggies have been on his mind lately. He mentioned Baylor and Duke as well. Waco (TX) University 2027 S and Baylor commit Davontrae Kirkland mentioned he continues to hear from several schools and he visited with Texas A&M DC Lyle Hemphill. He was offered early in the cycle, and the staff was watching. He does not have a spring visit scheduled, but he did mention him and his parents were planning to sit down and discuss plans. Melissa (TX) 2028 RB Jeremiah Tabor also holds an A&M offer, but he didn't mention the Aggies much when it came to his current communications. I also had a chance to see Mesquite (TX) Horn 2027 WR/ATH Kai Furtch. He's the son of former Texas A&M player Keon Furtch and also pretty close with Von Miller and Tony Jerod-Eddie. An all-around athlete, Furtch worked at receiver today, and showed the ability to keep defenders on their toes with his quickness. The first guy to catch my attention today was Newton's Kendray Porter. Not the biggest but he has a solid, muscular build. He caught our attention in a big way during State Championship weekend at AT&T in December and he showed that same speed, quickness, and versatile skillset. West Orange-Stark RB Khelvy Jefferson took home RB MVP honors. He is definitely short, but he is also stout, powerful, quick, and coming off a very strong season. He showed those quick feet, and explosive bursts today. On the defensive line the guy who caught my attention was Allen (TX) 2027 DE Jacobie Wilkerson. Checking in at 6-4, 245 he brings some size to the table and he showed a variety of pass rush moves.Allen (TX) 2027 DL Jacobie Wilkerson@JWilkerson_99 | @alleneaglesfb | @NLAShowcase pic.twitter.com/gsh7q9xDuV— Jason Howell (@Jason_Howell) February 15, 2026
It was also my first chance to see Alamo Heights DE Drake Carroll. He's coming off a strong season and has some nice length and bend on the edge. The frame has plenty of room for some good weight and it is not hard to imagine what he becomes as he adds weight and strength. TCU currently has some strong momentum there. On the OL, 2027 Jackson Cook was my favorite for OL MVP honors and he did not disappoint. The Austin (TX) Westlake talent plays a tough, technical brand of ball and he went to work today. Southlake (TX) Carroll 2028 OL Ty McCurry, Forney (TX) 2027 OL Mason Joshua, and Lucas (TX) Lovejoy 2028 Jayden Thompson were a few others who drew my attention on the day. Forney (TX) North Forney 2027 LB Kobe Jackson had a good day. He was bouncing around and talking some good natured trash. Him and RB Victor Scott had a fun little back and forth. Allen (TX) 2029 WR Zach Williams took home WR MVP honors after a strong performance. He already holds double digit offers and I can comfortably say he is on the Aggies' radar. Maybe even on offer watch. We'll see. The guy I'd say had the best day in my mind was Lancaster's James Foster. He had to close up shop early because he had some track obligations, but he was at the front of the DB line the whole time he as there. He attacked drills and reps with confidence and welcomed all competition during one-on-ones. He was also just a fun kid to be around, seemed to have a bounce to him on the day. Damarion Mays was out there taking in the action but did not go through drills. We will have a few interviews from the day so stay tuned but these are a few notes and thoughts. Hope you enjoyed and maybe learned a little bit, have an awesome rest of your Sunday.

Next Level Athlete Camp Thread
Today I'm in Mont Belvieu, Texas for the Next Level Athlete Camp and tomorrow Jason will be attending the one in Dallas. This event is always good for headshots to bolster our database and is a good place to catch recruits before they blow up. We'll be dropping our headshots and some notes in here over the course of the next two days.
