Some recruiting notes from the weekend
- From everything I've heard, A&M did a great job with Bridgeland QB Conner Weigman last week. I'll be sure to keep monitoring that one as we head into the spring, but I think the offer had more of an impact than I probably anticipated ahead of time. - I went to watch CyPark LB Harold Perkins and the Houston Storm 7 on 7 team practice yesterday. Perkins is off the charts athletically. I told Looch on the phone yesterday when I was leaving the workout that Perkins is the most gifted LB prospect I've ever covered. Anyway, I spoke with the kid when they wrapped up, and there's no question the Aggies have done a sensational job in his recruitment. He said he talks with Tyler Santucci daily and that he typically speaks with Jimbo Fisher three times a week. We talked about A&M nabbing Donovan Green and PJ Williams (who also play for Storm but aren't participating until basketball finishes) so early on and how they and Malick Sylla were such influences in greater Houston. Perkins was also pumped about the Weigman offers as he and Conner are pretty tight. No timetable on a decision just yet though. He said he should probably have a better grasp on that soon. - I continue to be impressed with Perkins' LB teammate Owen Pewee. He's longer than Harold and has a wiry frame that will hold a lot more weight. He also has some impressive junior tape at wide receiver which speaks to his athletic skill set. He's started to see his stock increase this off-season. I'd add his name to guys like Justin Medlock and Ty Kana as LB prospects in greater Houston that the Aggies are keeping an eye on. - No additions to the Ags' 2022 class over the weekend, but I still don't think we'll be waiting too much longer to see that change. - I still believe we'll see a signing day announcement for RB LJ Johnson Jr. Nothing I heard over the weekend has changed my mind about that or that A&M maintains a slight advantage.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
