I've read in a few places that this kid is the top LB in the state of LA. Easily a top 250 in the nation. I see a lot of Von Miller coming off the edge with him. Speed to burn on defense I'll take any day! Great pick up for the Ags.

The A&M staff is working circles around the LSU staff on the recruiting front in Louisiana. I do not know who is in charge of LSU recruiting in SW LA and N LA (stud the dud), but Les may need to change his strategy.

IMO, he is the best looking OLB in this class and last class ... the dude is freakishly fast and quick.

I'd say at this point, if we can grab Cole (and Brown), our LB class is complete unless we can squeeze someone like Santos into the mix.

I'm never fully at ease with out of state verbals, especially early commits with an in-state power program. the good news is that he already holds an LSU offer and could have pulled an LSU trigger. He's maintained that A&M was his top choice. Let's hope we can hang on to an outstanding prospect.

I think I remember seeing drop back now that you mention it. That closing speed is everything! The 2011 and 2012 LB (including potential gets) haul is eye-popping. I look for a major LB resurgence at A&M in the very near future.

This guy is amazingly talented. Can't wait to see him tear it up at Kyle!

I think if you read what the kid has to say about A&M and the coaches here, you'd be more comforable with him sticking.

This coaching staff is really impressing me with their hard work on the recruiting front. Obviously the recent results are very good, but what also impresses me is that in nearly every top recruits interview early on (long before their committment), they talk about how quickly they are being recruited by A&M, how comfortable they are and how impressed they are with the coaching staff, etc. When asked who is recruiting them the hardest early on, the top recruits say A&M. Then it seems that one by one, these kids end up committing to the good guys. The coaches are somehow striking that difficult balance between being relentless early and often, but at the same time gaining maintaining trust.

Phillips is the PERFECT fit for DeRuyter's 3-4 Defense.

That's going to be one heck of a FAST LB corps!
