Howdy my fellow fans of the 2025 NCAA Volleyball National Championship Aggies and welcome back to another spring match game thread. Last weekend it was a Saturday double header that saw take down Sam Houston and Houston in Reed Arena. This weekend we hit the road for a short drive to Houston to take on our second round opponent of the tournament TCU followed by another past tournament team in Rice.
The quality of opponent rises this weekend and I'm excited to see how we fare. Last weekend we saw 9 newcomers make their debut in maroon and white and this weekend playing back to back games with no turnaround in between will give us a better insight to our depth and talent we have. We saw many different lineup changes before and I'm sure we'll see more of that today.
TCU has a solid team with some solid returners. They also added some huge portal pieces at setter and opposite in Addy Horner of Wisconsin and Reese Robbins of Louisville. They also added some strong middle blockers from the portal. Rice is under Aggie volleyball great Genny Volpe. They return a good amount from last years team and added the versatile Maggie Croft from SMU. A cool connection this weekend will be Genny Volpe coaching against her former team as well as her own daughter who plays for TCU. Aggie 2027 commit Sophee Peterson's older sister Sydnee plays for Rice.
While teams may be gunning to take down the reigning national champions, Jamie Morrison and staff will be focused on finding the right lineups, figuring out position battles, and developing that chemistry between our setter and hitters. Let's see how these position battles fare against better competition and on the road in back to back games. If you're in the Houston area go check out our Aggies and support our volleyball team! Enjoy the matches!
