38 years old, overweight but in dad shape, double moderna vaxx 1 year ago but not boosted.

Felt great on Saturday but noticed while coaching my daughters softball game I had a little cough that seemed to have more to it, but other than that felt fine.

Sunday I went to a party and had a little more frequent cough and some light throat soreness, went back to the house and felt just a little back pain and tiredness so I took a test and popped positive.

Slept fine last night no problems, woke up today and have felt pretty good all day, oxygen fine, temperature up to 100.2 at the very highest, light fatigue and sore throat.

Those of you who have had omicron, should I be right in the middle of it, or at the very beginning?

There doesn't seem to be a "typical" and my whole family just go over it. I had it the worst of us(fever, drainage, fatigue, chills, night sweats, cough, etc) and was 100% by day 6 or 7. I counted day 1 as first day of fever.

Wife was positive but didn't have anything more than a light cough and runny nose.

2 yr old had no symptoms at all.

There is another thread towards the top with a few other people commenting and there seems to be little consistency.

You'll be fine. Don't worry about it. It's not the same disease as in 2020.

That's what I was thinking. Right now it seems like "this isn't very bad at all" and wanted to make sure there wasn't going to be a huge rug pull or something

Like any other diseases, COVID should not be taken lightly. Given the right conditions, it CAN kill, just as a common cold or flu could kill. Eat right, stay active, and maintain proper hygiene. You will be fine.

COVID sucks but this comment is way overkill and doesn't bear out in the data.

It really does seem like COVID has evolved into a common coronavirus infection for the vast majority of people.

That's my sincere hope. Waiting to see how the data on long Covid shakes out, which unfortunately won't be for a few more years I'm guessing.

I am more optimistic about quantum improvements in preventatives and treatments.

So update, feel all better today minus some stomach troubles and a very slight cough.

Wife obviously got it, and is having a rougher go than I am. 103 fever and major fatigue and body aches. Advil is making her feel better. Both girls (10 years old and 11 months old) feeling fine.

Don't let your wife sleep on her back. I'm pretty sure I ended up in the hospital because I took a nap every afternoon in the recliner.

Which part of my comment is overkilled? Also, which part of the data does it not bear out? Please show me. Thank you.

I'll give my experience as I too am just now getting it for the first time as confirmed (ha) via PCR test just hours ago. My 1.5 year old also tested positive but my wife and 3.5 year old did not while the four of us have symptoms. However, my two daughters tested positive for strep two days ago so that's what I thought I had and even received antibiotics so not really sure how that works - now my youngest has COVID and strep?

Anyway, I started with a slight sore throat and slight cough Monday around dinner. By the time we got back from seeing the doctor for my youngest and myself on Tuesday evening I deteriorated pretty quick and ran a high fever with chills and headache that night. Woke up yesterday with chills and on and off fever and stronger cough. Also got pretty light headed throughout the day. Our results came in around bedtime and now I'm up typing this after being up due to stomach issues. Is it the antibiotics or the rona? Who knows at this point but this doesn't seem too bad and hasn't hindered me from going about my business. Thankfully I work from home full time so was able to still get work done yesterday. Let's see how today goes as it is my 1:1 heavy day with the team so lots of talking.

Sounds exactly like what my aunt had when she got covid a couple weeks ago.

Learned from her that CVS has a test to treat setup, where you go to their clinic in the store, take a quick covid test, and if its positive they will immediately prescribe paxlovid.

Do you really need to keep your 1v1s?

Good point. I was out last week so feel it would've been good to catch but what's another few days

Also, regarding praxlovid don't they typically prescribe it so you don't get COVID or lessen the impact? Would it even do anything now that I'm a few days in?

I talked to my doc, and they wouldn't give it to me. Said I was in good shape and young so didn't need it. If you're class of 2015 you're about 10 years younger than I am so they probably won't give it to you either unless you have a bunch of comorbidities.

Also, the stomach issues have been the worst part of this thing for me. They only strike me in the morning but I literally have to run to the bathroom 4 times in a span of 30 minutes

It has been shown to decrease death and hospitalization if started within 5 days of symptoms. It is not for prevention.

Ah makes sense. Other than being overweight no other health issues so likely unable to get it but I will try.

Was able to do a tele visit with my PCP and she was able to write me a script for paxlovid after consulting with a liver specialist due to my history of elevated liver enzymes. He gave the thumbs up but I'm a bit iffy. I don't have a serious issue like cirrhosis or anything serious just elevated counters the last two years. I felt better she consulted a liver specialist in house but idk…thoughts?

If the hepatologist said it was ok I wouldn't worry.

My experience with Paxlovid is documented in the other thread. I had more concerning effects from the drug than from the virus and I'm mid-30s and healthy. Ended up discontinuing after one dose and got on ivermectin. I was feeling 90% within 24 hours. 99% within 2-3 days.

I went downhill Thursday night and it's been brutal. 102 fever nonstop, headaches, drainage, infrequent gunky cough, fatigue, can't sleep for crap. Googled for monoclonal but so far I can manage. Blood ox 95-100 the whole time.

40s and bmi 30-31 is my only risk

Today has been in the right direction, fatigue and aching less, still managing fever, but the sore throat and sinus drainage is a mess.

That has been my story for the last two days. Fever and aches gone, fatigue gone, now gigantic sinus congestion in ears and behind nose and sore throat.

Yesterday was a head fake, morning felt promising, but then highest fever yet 103 throughout the nba games.

Today, fever only 100. Day 4.

Virtual dr later to see what I can do

Day 5 - essentially fever free all day for the first time since it began. Raging appetite from not eating anything of substance for 4 days. Still preferred to lay in bed and nap a lot, but that's a function of lack of good sleep versus feeling "bed-ridden". Coughing increased a bit and still a runny nose. But definitely on the way back. No need for further updates.

But I will say this experience was a shocker. Family got it in Jan-Feb and none of them were this bad. My general perception was statistically it would be a cold. But I guess I crapped out and got the severe flu impact, just short of seriously considering a trip to urgent care days ago. My high Blood Ox was the only thing that gave me a somewhat peace of mind through this.

How y'all feeling? Anyone have their smell or taste back? It isn't as completely dead as I thought it would be, my nose just feels slightly burnt out like I just took some afrin, and my taste is metallic as well.
