A few months ago I developed several eye floaters after the first dose of Pfizer. I had it checked by an ophthalmologist, and he confirmed no retina issues. I didn't really link to the vaccine until seeing some internet rumblings lately.

Floaters and detached retinas are pretty common. My wife is an OD and sees them all the time. Rate is 5 per 100,000 per year for total population and around 20 for older people.

Seems like a post hoc ergo propter hoc temptation.

That's the rate for a detached retina?

Yes, sorry for being unclear. Tears are more common than detachments, and holes much more common than tears.

Neighbors wife just got over Covid right before Christmas. Only lasting impact was/is distorted vision but it's improved gradually each day. Pretty sure she is heading to eye dr this week for a through exam.

My cousin is a retinal specialist. The most prevalent and reoccurring eye problem he sees is retinal tears/holes ocular migrains, flashing lights (due to the fluid in the eye changing and pulling on the retina) and floaters......and this was years before covid vaccines.....fairly common. Myself and my wife have had both 4-5 years ago.

It has become that anything that happens to people now is either caused by covid vaccines or boosters or as a side effect of getting covid.....just depends which side of the fence you are on.

Had the Moderna vaccines in March/April 2021. Had cataract surgery in August '21 in left eye. Prior to surgery the pressure in both eyes was normal and had been my entire life.

At first post surgery follow up a week after surgery the pressure in my non-surgical eye had increased above normal ranges. My physician was surprised by this and did not understand why this occurred. He laughingly called it "COVID eye"! He told me his practice had two other patients who had the same experience I had.

I don't have glaucoma but I was prescribed eye drops to keep my eye pressure in the one eye in the normal range. I see my physician every 3 months now. So far so good. Weird though.

So your eye pressure was normal between the vaccine and surgery? This strikes me as odd because my eye pressure had to be taken twice at my ophthalmologist appt due to it testing high at first. And barely in the normal range on the second test.

Yes, normal between time vaccinated and surgery. A week after surgery the non-surgical eye pressure spiked. Started taking a drop/day of Rx eye drops and it's been normal ever since. Seems odd and random to me. My ophthalmologist and his partners thought it was/is odd.

I had trouble physically focusing with my eyes on day 2 post pfizer booster.

My eyes would just randomly jump around a bit on what distance they were focused. Took a lot of concentration to drive home that day, and I woke up the next day fine.

I'm currently dealing with what I would call a moderate case of conjunctivitis. I've never had pink eye in my life but I received my Pfizer booster on January 2nd before returning abroad, so I suspect it's COVID related, either from the booster or exposure/infection while traveling.

Don't fall for post hoc ergo propter hoc! You just got pink eye. It's incredibly common.
