6' 1" 220 lbs
56
fully vaccinated with Pfizer end of April

I decided Sunday to go trail running. Just started back up and not very fit yet. Felt miserable Sunday night assumed it was from overdoing it. I started getting extreme fatigue, achy, headache, and random sweating. Around midnight, I went to the bathroom and started sweating, basically completely drenched my clothes and had to shower again. I have never experienced fatigue like this in my life. All day Monday mostly slept, but would literally take all my energy to get to the bathroom or kitchen and back.

Symptoms
------------------------
Achy body, I mean bad
Night sweats, and sweating randomly every so often
headache
Extreme fatigue
Woke up once with 103 fever, I normally if really sick don't go above 100.0
The weird thing with the temperature, took a shower back to normal. My temperature randomly would go off high, then randomly maybe 15-30 later be back to normal
Very slight discomfort in upper respiratory

NO loss of taste
no loss of smell

DR said based on symptoms it is likely Omicron, but test don't really distinguish. He said I was too healthy for the monoclonal antibodies. Gave me some concoctions to pick up later at the pharmacy

So maybe I will have super immunity after this, but this is no sniffles like some like to spit out here. This makes you feel bad. Yesterday, I never felt worse in my life including having pneumonia twice.

The friend of the family, who we think gave it to me had COVID before, was fully vaccinated, and seems sicker this time than before the vaccine. I'm not sure the vaccine works at all, will read up more on it

I didn't lose taste and smell until day 5 of solid symptoms fwiw. I can taste the first bite of something now, but nothing past that. Smell still hasn't tried to kick in at all, but my nose also feels like it's been burned from the inside.

It took about 10 days to get to functional, but I'm still taking a nap every afternoon. My body just gives up and I get really dizzy/nauseous if I try to push past.

At 220 lbs you should easily qualify for mAb (not sure where your Dr is coming from), problem is finding supply.

I'm around day 12 and seem to be losing my taste this evening. Cannot taste salt at all but still taste a little ketchup and hot sauce.

At 29 BMI you qualify for monoclonal.

However they do not work for Omicron which is the primary strain at this time. There is one monoclonal that works still but it is in very short supply so unlikely you will get it.

Consider rx fluvoxamine as well as general vitamin cocktail from Dr Rev.

Maybe on the supply, my 220 lbs I should have mentioned I do strength training. By BMI I would be in the heavy club, but by body fat percentage about 22%. I plan to try to lose some weight and get to about 15%

Eh I'm at 32 BMI and 24.3% body fat and would still qualify (BMI>25) The guidelines only care about BMI because that is easy to measure.

KidDoc thanks, taking the vitamins recommended, Dr prescription includes 4 things won't be ready till in the morning. One is fluvoxamine and another is HCQ, forgot what the other 2 are. He calls it a Covid cocktail

My sore throat was awful for 2 days. Husband didn't even get the tiniest scratchiness in his throat. Funny how it affects people so differently.

Felt better last night, but woke up at 7 am today to what some call "knife pains in throat". Never had a sore throat before and mostly went away today to just scratchy throat but not painful

Went on a walk early today, feeling pretty good just fatigued

Oh and it kinda sucks to isolate

I kept sore throat away with iodine flush (horrible) and a follow-up of Listerine or knockoff. I truly believe 1% iodine flush (sucked beyond suck) kept those symptoms away. Ivermectin is a question mark for this variant and me - didn't hurt me, but help? I did start day one so no basis.

to note iodine not preventative, symptoms only and no more than 5 days. Not a doctor and not making doctor prescriptions. Consult your doctor with questions.

Last night was night #3 for me and I went to bed feeling pretty good.
Woke up at 2 AM and felt like I had swallowed knives. So painful I had trouble falling back to sleep until some tylenol kicked in.
What a weird sensation!
This morning, it is my only symptom besides normal drainage..

Have y'all had strep before? That is the way strep feels to me. Knives in throat.

Yep. I've had strep before. Feels very similar. Difference for me was how quickly it hit, and how quickly it just stopped.

Agreed, feels just like strep.

Yes I can agree also! How quickly it came and went was the odd part. 3 days of waking up dying to grab a ibuprofen sucked though, rest of symptoms felt like a cake walk to the sore throat.

I had something similar to what y'all are describing the last two weeks and two at-home tests over four or five days were both negative. It went through the house and two kids were tested for strep, flu, and Covid and all were negative.

This was a virus that produced red spots all over the throat and even in the back of the roof of the mouth. Terrible sore throat that lingers for a week or more.

First couple days of body aches were for real. Like terrible flu.

I started having terrible sore throat on the 14th, ear pain, swollen lymph nodes. Spots in mouth and back of throat showed up Friday. Went to urgent care and said it was strep, took zpac, didn't get better, went to ENT on Monday and said it was shingles. I tested for covid that Friday pcr and rapid said negative. I just finished 10 day of valtrex which helped. Still lack of appetite though and fatigue. Guess it wasn't covid.

That was the worst illness I ever caught from my kid. Felt like needles in my throat. I could seriously only eat Kraft Mac and Cheese for a few days. It's been 20 years and I still remember how terrible it felt.

I thought it might have been HFM as well. The reason the ENT doctor said shingles was because it was all on the right side roof mouth, tonsils, and back throat. I'm on day 14 of when I saw the ulcers. I'm still fatigued and my appetite is still way off. At least the blisters are healed up. Has not been fun.

Think I'm on the ups now. Only minor fatigue today. Only new thing was things tasted extra salty. It's like more taste instead of less.

My throat is still killing me and my only lingering symptom. (day 5)
Waking up at least once during the night to take tylenol and then again as soon as I wake up.

Any tips for losing the sore throat??

I still am getting that tingling on the right side back throat, don't see any more of the ulcers. It does feel tender still and throat still somewhat sore. Nausea when eating still persists. I have no clue how long shingles in the mouth takes to fully heal. Apparently it's really rare to get them in that spot, so not a lot of detail I can find just googling.

Isn't strep extremely simple to test for (or at least rule out)? "Saying its strep" without testing seems quack-like for sure.

Yes super easy and common test. It has been well proven that "looks like strep" doesn't mean anything and you should test.

They did a step test and it was negative. They said could be false negative and said do zpac. Yeah, no good. They didn't know what it was

The right side mouth back throat still feels like it's swollen and sore, more secretions still than left side. It's been almost a week since finished the 10 day valtrex. I wonder if there is any benefit to get back on it. I'm going to call the ENT tomorrow to see if they can check me out again.

I assume you're allergic to penicillin and that's why they gave you Z-pack. Augmentin is first line for me and always clears up strep throat within a day.
