Just got over a super weak version of covid, but have absolutely no sense of taste or smell for a few days already.

Had nothing for a several days. Tried the orange trick (look it up) got most of it back immediately. I'm 3+ months removed and some things still don't taste right. Peanut butter tastes bad to me now, for example. And I can't smell bed smells still. My kid launched a rocket and usually there's a strong sulphur odor. But I couldn't smell it.

2 weeks for me. 2-4 weeks is average although some only have it for a few days and others are yet to get it back after a year and a half.

Came back after about 10 days. Also had a mild case that I thought I was just an allergy/sinus thing until lost taste and smell.

Wife had several different essential oils for me to use for therapy. Nothing worked at first, but then orange and grapefruit triggered some smell and taste. Tried this for about three days and the short circuit to these senses was repaired.

Aunt of mine still isn't back to 100% after getting it back in January. Another friend is still maybe 50-50 after getting in July. A cousin lost taste/smell for maybe 3 days but was fine in short order afterwards.

No rhyme or reason to it. Had mild case and lost 90+% of smell (but taste remained fine). Took 10 months for smell to return.

Had a very mild case of Covid last December. Never lost sense of taste. I still can not smell anything though.

I just got over a weak case as well. Symptoms were mainly congestion (could still breathe through my nose) and fever for 12 hours or so. I started taking the 24hr Pseudoephedrine for the congestion and my smell started to come back within 12 hours. I continued the Sudafed for the next few days and I was almost back to 100% senses within 1 week of losing them. It could be pure coincidence but the decongestant seemed to really make a difference for me.

Rockwall - My mild case was last December as well, and I didn't get my smell back until the following October. At the recommendation of some docs and others, I used this "smell retraining" kit:

MOX Smell Training Kit, 4 Essential Oils, Olfactory Regeneration

No way to know whether the smell retraining or just the passage of time (or both) did the trick, but using the kit did give me a good measure of how it was progressing and I could definitely tell as it improved.

Smell returned after ~6 days, but not fully. Reduced ability to smell certain scents along with olfactory hallucinations persisted for around 8 weeks before everything finally returned to normal.

****tiest part of the whole deal. Literally only symptom I had but took a good 2-3 months for all of my taste to come back. I still have a weird chemical smell with some things like certain perfumes and hand soaps and sometimes a weird chemical taste with cokes.

There was a recent thread about this.

I'm at 9 months without smell.

I thought my sense came back by the week after I shook the sinus headache, but according to my wife I still have no taste.

Covid in July 2021. 3 months it was gone almost completely then came back at 50 percent taste, 25 percent smell. It's probably 85 percent/75 percent now.

Spouse and son had a severe case of covid. Mine was mild. We used Ivermectin on day 1 and luckily none of us lost taste or smell.

I'm not a doctor, but I have read that the loss of taste may be due to a zinc deficiency.

"The novel COVID-19 virus has ongoing signs and symptoms, one of the signs and symptoms that is discovered recently is loss of taste, some pieces of research suggested that COVID-19 patients may have zinc deficiency however the main undiscovered concern is whether the virus is a causative or those patients had deficiency pre COVID-19…"

One of the daily recommendations I came across the other day for loss of taste is:
500 mg Quercetin
1 g Vit C (Plain ascorbic acid, not Ester C.)
4000 IU D3 + K2
50 mg Zinc (Not for long-term use. Only until taste returns.)

There was a clinical trial by the Cleveland Clinic that had dosages:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT04342728

Quercetin, a zinc ionophore, helps to transport zinc into the cells, but wasn't part of this trial. Info on zinc ionophores here. I am not familiar with this site, but it has some basic info at the top of the page.

Check with a doctor. Hope you are able to get your taste back.

Looks like in my case, it took about 10 days to get full taste and most smell back.

6-7 days to have full taste, and a few days after that for full smell.

The worst was in the middle of it when I lost them, the only things I could taste were salt, sugar, and bitter.
Tortilla chips and chicken were nothing but salt.
Starbursts were nothing but sugar with no flavor.
Coffee was pure bitterness.

That's the one thing i haven't shaken.... taste was mostly back in 3 weeks.

I had it in February and still am at maybe 20% on smell

Did anyone just partially lose smell with covid? I am curious if it is possible that I might have had it. I had what seemed like a month long mild cold, and my taste and smell were only slightly muted for a while, except that I couldn't smell my son's dirty diapers at all for a week or two. I could smell other things though.

About 4 days into sickness and just got hit with a weird experience. Walked into our ranch house and everything smelled liked chemicals / bitter. Went to eat lunch and my chicken sandwich had the same taste and sensation. So I have taste and smell per se but it is really odd. Initial research shows it could be dysgeusia. It's super odd.
