The press hasn't been stirring up stuff about Epsilon, Lambda, or Mu lately.
UK reported its biggest one-day Covid case increase in 3 months just as the new delta variant AY.4 with the S:Y145H mutation in the spike reaches 8% of UK sequenced cases. We need urgent research to figure out if this delta plus is more transmissible, has partial immune evasion?

The variant has been in the UK since about July, but it has been slowly increasing in prevalence. There’s no clear indication that it’s considerably more transmissible, but we should work to more quickly characterize these and other new variants. We have the tools.

lol. AY.4 has also been the dominant variant since April, but yeah...fightingfarmer09 said:

Right on time.
I have been wondering why the UK did not continue it's initial downward trend. I wondered if it developed a different prevalent strain or if it had reduced contact so much during Delta's initial surge that it had not sufficiently finished running through the population when they reduced their mandates. Essentially, did they flatten the curve but extend the duration whereas we did less to flatten the curve but ended up reducing the duration. I'm interested in knowing why our experience seems to show a shorter duration of the wave and hopeful that it will continue to be a valid observation.fightingfarmer09 said:
