Most who do not want to covid vaccine do not seem to be "anti vaccine", just anti covid vaccine. And I do not think calling it something else would have helped. Probably would have made it worse.
It all started with the mandates, shut downs and shaming that went on for a year. Once the vaccine came out, many were already just done with anything the powers that be came up with combined with a media that makes money off of fear porn plus leadership that has straight up lost way too many around the country. For instance, Fauci may very well be a genius level doctor but his messaging and becoming the poster boy for the fight against covid was maybe the worst thing that could have happened. There are real concerns regarding taking the vaccine. Too many in power and who control the message spend way too much time trying to discount any resistance to taking the vaccine. They have lost the trust of a lot of us. I took the vaccine. I think it's a fantastic advancement in science that will go on to do more for us beyond covid. But at this point, its going to have to be a long term thing to get some to comply. And forcing them to comply would have even more serious negative effects. Yet we keep going down that path. Even now, as some companies and events etc are starting to require proof of vaccination, even more are being pushed away from taking it. You'd think that they could figure out that way too many Americans feel disenfranchised with all of this and try to change the messaging to maybe get in line with those who are resistant to taking it. Start by respecting their thoughts, feeling and concerns. Address the concerns. This whole thing has become a **** show. Mismanaged terribly. Honestly I do not blame this delta spike on the unvaccinated. I blame all leadership for finding a way to divide us further on the issue to a point a sizable portion of the population wants nothing to do with the vaccine.
