My 65+ step father tested positive for COVID today. I'd finally convinced him to get a vaccine this week. He received Pfizer shot 1 on Thursday. Is he at an increased risk having just received the vaccine?

I've shared Dr Rev's recommended regimen and suggested he try to get the regeneron treatment. Any thoughts or advice, especially from those in the medical community?

No advice on treatment options, but do some checking to make sure you know of a good facility to take him to that has adequate space in case he gets worse. Good luck, hope he gets through it quick.

Thanks for the advice guys. I suggested to my mom to call the urgent care facility to see if they will refer him for monoclonal antibody therapy. The doctor there said he didn't need it when he was diagnosed. That seems foolish given his risk factors (age, BMI over 25, prediabetic).

Which city is he located? Next Level Urgent care provides the antibody treatment if a positive test can be proven.

Can you reach his primary care doctor? He should be able to prescribe them and help you arrange it. Sending positive thoughts your way.

I called Baylor in Fort Worth. He just got walked back in the ER! Thank you all very much for the advice!

Got the treatment last night. He is coughing a lot today and O2 sitting around 94-95. We are going to scout out hospitals in DFW with bed space just in case.

He did get a monoclonal antibody infusion last night. Developed a severe cough overnight. Hopefully the antibodies kick in over the next 18-24 hours.
