Anyone heard this?

My wife got the shot almost 2 weeks ago and about 3 days later started feeling a bit down. Now almost 2 weeks later she's really feeling depressed and was put an anti depressant for the first time in her life. She's had no history of this.

Not sure if it's just everything from the last year finally mentally catching up also.

That seems like a quick turnaround unless she's been feeling depressed much longer then that without telling you.

Nope. Had both shots and no depression. Total opposite.

Had first one a couple of weeks ago and made both wife and I feel like we didn't want to do much....just tired and blah. Feel better now, but get #2 this Thursday...more physical than mental IMO.

What was her outlook on covid before the vaccine?

Could it be some sort of post major event type depression. i.e. something she was super focused on for the last year is all of the sudden gone in her mind?

I've had both doses of the Pfizer vaccination and had no side effects at all other than being a little tired after the first dose. My second dose was March 15.

I'm no mental health expert but two weeks of feeling down seems incredibly quick to be prescribed antidepressants. I know there's a time and place for those meds, but I wouldn't touch them without having put some effort into therapy and other means of improving my mental state over the course of months.

Two weeks?? Wow...

Agree with above. That seems really surprisingly quick to be put on meds.

Please learn what DSm-5 is before you think two weeks with depressed mood is too quick for an antidepressant. You do not know his wife's history and she may have been exercising to hold off symptoms to no avail.

That being said, onset of a side effect due to medication (in this case a vaccine) generally takes longer.

it could be the stress and adrenaline from the pandemic is slowly wearing off now that she has the vaccine.
I think it is common to feel depressed after a big stressful event is over
