Question about vaccine

How long do you want to ignore this user?
My husband and I both had Covid back around thanksgiving. We both had some bad symptoms, but overall, it wasn't terrible. But it definitely wasn't a mild case.

My husband got the first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Friday. He woke up Saturday morning feeling like he had Covid in full force. His temp kept getting up in the high 101s and into the 102s. He was super achy and felt awful all day. By Sunday, he was feeling better, but still had a bit of a fever and was achy and tired.

He's concerned about getting the second shot, as it seems like the symptoms seem to be worse.

Should he still get it or bypass it?
Appreciate any help and input!

I would take that as a sign that his body is locked and loaded and ready to defend itself against Covid and not get the second shot.

No one can give you official medical advice or recommendations because there is not enough information known right now. I think it is still up for debate if getting one shot even benefits you so soon after having Covid.

Here's my anecdotal evidence.. a friend of mine that also had covid in November had the exact same reaction as your husband to the first shot. He was sick in bed with a 102 fever. He got the second shot this past Wednesday and had minimal side effects, pretty much nothing. Obviously just one person, but maybe it will be the same for him.

That's what I've heard...
If you haven't had Covid:
First Moderna dose is easy
Second dose can be difficult.

If you have had Covid:
First dose difficult
Second dose much easier.

That's all anecdotal from friends/family/coworkers, so take it for what it's worth. Good luck!

There is research suggesting those who had covid only need one shot, hence the reaction your husband had, but until they change the guidance get the 2nd. There shouldnt be a reaction like others have said.

I also had a rough case of COVID and a very strong reaction to the first dose of Moderna. Luckily my 2nd dose was a much milder experience. Still had a little fever and chills but nothing like after the first dose. I would absolutely get the 2nd dose.

The first dose felt like having COVID again for about 18-24 hours. I was pretty concerned but by day 3 I was back to normal.

I got the 2nd Moderna vaccine in my left arm this morning at 8:15 am. No pain in my left arm, but significant pain in my right.

Anyone have such a reaction?

Did you get the original one in your right arm?

Get both shots. Why is this still a question.....

People who have had COVID have, on average, a bigger side effect after the shots. It's is so common.
