My niece signed my 89 year old mom through Dallas county websight:

https://app.blockitnow.com/consumer/codc19vaccine

She took off time from work and taking care of her 3 young kids, and they went to the appointment, they waited in a long line, and they turned my mom away.

I am furious.

Did they give a reason?

They had a list of 5000 people that the appointments were for.

Somehow the system screwed up and let my niece make an appointment for my mom.

Dallas county screwed up.

I don't know why Dallas is struggling with such a simple concept, but 2 weeks ago they had to go to "walkup only" for a few days due to the same website flaw. That said, make sure your mom is signed up in Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, and Collin, and she should get a shot within 3-4 weeks.

NBC5 had a story about how the geniuses at Dallas County sent a general use appointment link out for people that came up in line for the vaccination.

Almost everyone that received it forwarded it to all their friends who were able to book appointments as well despite not being on the list

"Someone's father who qualified for the shot but had already gotten it at another hospital, put that link on social media and put it on a newsletter that went out to a neighborhood and people signed up through that live link," said Jenkins. "We've had hundreds, maybe 1,000, who signed up on that link who did not get an invitation directly from the county."

Initially the county allowed those who signed up through the forwarded links to receive a vaccine, while they sorted through the confusion.

On Wednesday, the county said people who schedule an appointment off the forwarded link and did not receive it directly from DCHHS, do not have valid appointments and will be turned away at the gate. An official also said the problem has been fixed and should no longer be an issue.

Life is too short to live in Dallas.

Is she reasonably close to Tarrant County? They have a well oiled machine at the Resource Connection site

It's all bull*****!

She should have killed thousands of people, then she'd be eligible

It's not that she's not eligible. It's the fact that some of these counties can't get their **** together

This will probably frustrate a lot of you. I moved from Texas to CA back in 2014, but I travel to FW a lot for my job. I had travel plans in January so I signed up with Tarrant county hoping the stars would align.

They almost did. I was approved and the appointment scheduled the day after I was due to fly back home. I decided to go a day early and was told they couldn't give them a day in advance, but if I came back any day after my appointment, they would administer it.

Luckily, I had a need for traveling back to FW the next week. Had zero issues getting the shot. So yeah, highly recommend Tarrant over Dallas.

Everyone in government is worried about "governmental overreach." The reality is that governments from local to national have been incompetent in managing action in the pandemic. The State could have implemented a vaccine appointment and dose tracking platform for everyone in the state to use between March and December. Instead, they threw it to the counties to manage. Again, the counties also had from March to December to get organized and implement a common appointment and tracking platform and they didn't do it either.

I'm technically 1B as an outpatient health provider that has increased risk for covid. I have a mom that is 81. I signed us both up for Fort Bend, Harris County (Houston proper), and Next Level Urgent Care. I got an email and subsequent vaccine 1/28. Yesterday I got a text from Next Level that I could get a vaccine, and Harris County texted me twice that I have a vaccine allocated. My mom, who is 81, said she has not gotten a call or text from anyone above, because I signed up both of us at the same time. She has dementia, so her report could be inaccurate.

My mom got her vaccine. A friend of my niece saw her rant on Facebook about the mishaps the other day. The friend works at the county and got her an appointment today. Mom is now vaccinated.

Why would I want to do all that work while I'm living the good life "working" from home.
