We know the virus appears to be more infectious, but is there any hope that it's also become less virulent? Is the hospital rate in the southeast of England trending downwards or up? Is their evidence that the overall Covid hospitalization rate is decreasing even though new cases are surging?

From what I've read so far, it's simply more communicable, they haven't presented any evidence that the infection from this strain comes with worse symptoms than the rest. I hope it stays that way.
