Quote:

How the three bat CoV viruses obtain those inserts remains unknown. For any virus to obtain additional insert sequences from other organisms, it requires that it has direct interactions with other organisms, most likely through homologous or non-homologous recombination [11]. For bat CoV viruses to gain the gene fragments from HIV-1, it will require both viruses to co-infect the same cells. Because the host cells for bat CoV viruses and HIV-1 are different, the chance for both to exchange genetic materials is negligible

Has this been discussed? I understand the original study out of India which pointed this out experienced hard push back, but no one has yet provided a plausible explanation for how HIV glycoproteins naturally occurred in a coronavirus.

I posit that it is extremely unlikely to have naturally occurred within any timeline that makes sense, and is far more likely to have been inserted during a gain of function study.

There were some rumors going around early on in the outbreak that labs have been studying coronaviruses as a mechanism to develop an HIV vaccine.

Fauci says there is no evidence that the virus was made in a lab. CNN says he is infallible so it must be a naturally occurring strain of a virus.
