I had a pneumonia vaccine back in 2005 after getting it 2 years in a row. Would the severe cases of COVID-19 have been helped with this vaccine or is it a different type of pneumonia?

I'm pretty sure that only helps against bacterial infection.

The various pneumonia vaccines protect against certain types of bacteria.

Pneumonia caused by coronavirus is caused by just that, a virus.

It is possible, similar to complications related to the influenza virus, that bacterial pneumonia becomes more likely during/after coronavirus. So, in that sense, it could help a little.

But, when you hear of a coronavirus patient developing pneumonia, you're most likely hearing about coronavirus itself in the lungs, causing pneumonia.

I think some of the doctors around here have mentioned relatively low rates of bacterial secondary infections with COVID.

On April 2nd I have a appointment with my Critical Care Pulmonary Doctor. I will double with her with my understanding of ZPack antibiotics. I believe the ZPAK has the ability to calm down inflammation in lung tissue. Yes it is a antibiotic but also calms down lung tissue.
