To Our Valued Gold's Gym Community,

At Gold's Gym the health and safety of our members and team members across the globe is our top priority. As concerns about the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) grow, we continue to watch closely as the situation evolves and follow all direction from government and public health officials in order to protect our members, our team members and the general public.

We know every decision we make as a business right now can have a larger impact on humanity. With that in mind and in order to do our part to support stopping the spread of COVID-19, effective 8:00 p.m. local time tonight (March 16, 2020) we will be temporarily closing all company-owned Gold's Gym locations in the United States, including gyms across Texas, Oklahoma, St. Louis, Alabama, the Carolinas, Colorado Springs and Venice, California. We plan to remain closed through and including March 31, 2020 unless otherwise directed by government and public health officials. At this moment, the health of our nation is the top priority, and we will lock arms with many other industries around us and do our part to try and keep people safe.

Wow - probably the right thing to do, but some gyms will not survive this most likely and sadly.

Yep....

Dear Member,

Based on recent orders and advisories from federal, state and local governmental authorities regarding COVID-19, all of our Life Time clubs will be closing no later than 8 p.m. tonight in each time zone. The length of this temporary closure is dependent upon governmental guidance. We will update you with a reopening date for your club and your account will be credited for the number of days the club is closed.

Our entire organization is committed to your health and well-being. We will be sharing regular communication with you. Importantly, stay tuned for my next communication, which I hope to release soon. We are tirelessly working to see how we can help you and our communities in any way we can, including whether we can repurpose our facilities to become a resource or service centers for our members. We hope to communicate with you quickly on our plans.

Thank you.
Bahram

Some people wait for Waffle House to close before they panic. My alarm goes off when gyms in New Jersey and Philly shut down. Build a bunker when they shut down the tanning salons.

Well, I'm taking a few items as I work at ours. Planning on doing some videos for our members with stuff. Might do a few "cleaning, checking on things" trips as well. No harm in getting g a few squats in while there.

I work at an Anytime Fitness. Collin County hasn't declared closings yet, but since Dallas Cnty has, we are preparing to close. Probably by evening tomorrow if not earlier.

My understanding is that management is very separate.

Planet Fitness in Bryan looked like Disneyworld at Christmas as far as the number of people there when I drove by. I've never seen that parking lot so full.

I think you're lost. This is a thread about gyms.

Talked to some employees at Golds today. They're being forced to use PTO for the two weeks while the gym continues to collect full price from members that can't use the gym.

Somehow I think Gold's could treat their employees a little better than this.

That's crazy to me. If they're collecting full price, they don't even have that excuse...

Were these trainers? They probably don't pay their trainers a base. They get paid either on the training packages they sell or hours they train, or both. The members will hopefully get a freeze on their account.

Weren't trainers. One was the sales guy that I signed up with and the other was the front desk girl that checks you in.

And I asked if we'd get a refund for the two weeks (once I heard they weren't taking care of employees) and the front desk person said no.

Just got an email from 24 Hour. They're closed until further notice. Positive is that they are extending memberships for as long as they are closed and giving everyone access to their premium app, which is sort of a virtual trainer for at home workouts.

Anytime Fitness has left it up to the franchise owners. So far, my local AF gym is staying open.

This. And I'm only the trainer but I will advocate extended contracts for members. I did essentially the same thing for all of my clients. I froze all training and will start up once this blows over. We are still open but the city of McKinney has mandated a 10 person limit in all establishments. Easier to close than enforce. Our staff has limited hours already.

you left out the best part:

We are also working on launching a new on-demand video library of workouts for our members to stream for free at home during this time. We expect these to launch on Wednesday, March 18 visit www.goldsgym.com/anywhere for more details on GOLD'S AMP as well as our new Gold's Gym on-demand video workout library. We encourage you to share this information with your friends and family, as these free services are not limited to just Gold's Gym members.

I got a rogue half rack of craigslist a few years ago.

There's definitely cheaper out there with comparable quality to Rogue.

If your in Houston, let me know. I got a guy that outfits crossfit gyms with good affordable stuff

Unfortunately I'm in McKinney, just north of Dallas. But I may want the contact if he sells up here too.

I don't. Gold's treats their employees like *****

Trainers and instructors at Gold's only make money on the hours they bill. Trainers at Lifetime are much more salespeople.
