As a teacher, I have used a website called donorschoose.org to "crowdfund" some of my classroom activities. I was browsing it today and there are a lot of Harvey-affected teachers and classrooms on there, and I'm sure a lot more will be added. Some of it is to replace classroom furniture, materials, books, etc. or to get supplies, uniforms, or basic necessities for students.

The money does not go directly to the school or the teacher, the organization purchases the requested materials and has them shipped to the school. You can see on each project page exactly what is going to be purchased, from where, and the cost. Some of the projects have donation matching from various foundations so it's also a good way to get more out of your giving.
