Howdy, Ags! I live in Twin Lake which was one of the neighborhoods that was impacted by the Addicks reservoir pool. I was able to get out safely before the neighborhood flooded with my car, some clothes, and important documents. We got some good news tonight that the levels in the reservoir are expected to peak soon and at a level much lower than we were expecting.

Because of our location, our streets and homes will drain when the reservoir does, so it could potentially be awhile before we can get in to clean up. The original estimate was September 20thhoping this moves up some with the lower peak levels.

Here's my ask: I would be so grateful if someone with a boat would be willing to meet me and drive me in so that I can start taking photos for our insurance claim and work on doing whatever is possible to mitigate mold growth on what was left behind. It's impossible to drive in as water in the street is between 3-4 feet.

Would anyone be able to help me out?

Thanks and Gig 'Em (and BTHOharvey),

I could be down maybe Friday or so. I have a small powerboat that might help for that. I wonder how authorities may be controlling access to flooded areas? I am guessing you might find help before then, but I'll check the thread.

I also have kayaks.

Thanks you for your offer! That's a good point. I'm not sure. I definitely want to plan this out so that it can be done safely. Based on what we can tell from the reservoir guage readings and the elevation of the neighborhood, the levels are holding steady and shouldn't rise any higher, but will take a while to go down. We estimate we might have as much as but probably not more than a foot of water in the house.

I'll see what I can find from the officials and report back.

There are supposed to be lots of people with boats in the area looking to help but with nothing to do.

Okay, thanks! Where did you find that out? Ideally, I'd like to connect with someone already out there.

Hey, thanks for replying! Depth in the streets should be 3-4 feet. We are trying to make sure we can get back in. I've been hearing some reports from neighbors that there is someone turning people away at entrance. However, we were never issued a mandatory evac notice and my ID proves I live there, so not sure if they can keep us out if we are clear we understand the risk. I'll keep you posted. Some family members are working to get some boats together too. Thank you!! I love my Aggie family.

If y'all get a group looking to get back in eventually when the authorities allow, we would be interested too to coordinate a time to ride in too if y'all coordinate a boat, but def not looking to take away from current resources or go against any police direction.

Until then we continue to get updates from neighbors in place in the northern section of TL
