Okay so several starters didnt even make the trip, and the defense looked shaky on the first day of games of spring training. So this somehow means we are going to have a long year. That might possibly be the dumbest logic ive ever heard.

I am a die-hard astro's fan, but using the excuse that "most of the starters didn't show up" is retarded because every team is that way.

p.s. spring training doesnt matter. havent the braves been horrible in spring training for a long time, but they won all those nl east titles

I wasnt making an exuse because this was the exact point i was making. Why would you even take into account what happend today, considering you had AAA and AA players all over the field trying to simply make the team on both sides. So who really cares?

Sadly, it isn't to some baseball "experts" here.

OK, no matter WHAT the result, how many times does it have to be said that W-L record in Spring Training is completely irrelvant.

A) Home teams always have a huge advantage. Most teams play their starters and veterans at home and their kids and scrubs on the road. Therefore, road teams are almost always outgunned.

B) Pitchers don't make getting outs their top priority, especially early on. All they care abotu is conditioning and getting a feel for their pitches.

C) When you are not using your standard lineup, it changes the dynamic of everything.

Spring training team performances are a crap shoot. Just learn to focus on the individual performances, even if these are often misleading too.

HD08, did you notice the starting lineup for the CI's vs, HA's? Did you notice the pitching lineups and the # innings for each between the two? Just asking?
