yes! I think the 5-0 week plus the margins of victory in the round rock classic were viewed as very impressive.

But according to the sips, Baseball America hates the state of Texas and the Big 12. I don't understand???

Jeff...I have never heard anyone say that...I have heard that they are fktards for where they place people...i.e. FSU at 17 is a joke!

Texas at 2 is also viewed by some of my fellow horns as BS since we are 5-1 agaisnt two top 10 teams...However, That will be sorted out soon enough when Tulane plays two top tens.

That's odd, I always thought that pitching and defense were what counted in baseball.

I think BA tends to have a slight bias towards the southeastern region of the country, but I think the quality in baseball in the state of Texas is just impossible to ignore. 6 teams in the top 25 is pretty cool.

I never said Baseball America was biased against Texas. I said it was biased against the Big XII, and it is. There was plenty of room for A&M to move up after this weekend. Let's see how fast you climb up the top 10 though. Or how fast you get dropped from it, in relation to certain other teams.

I bashed the poll because it is a joke. Tulane was #1 with a 9-1 record after losing to unranked Pepperdine, while 14-0 Texas was #2 after sweeping Stanford. Are you trying to tell me that's not BS?

The only reason you guys are so high on Baseball America now is because they have you in the top 10. I didn't hear anyone singing its praises before.

I couldn't care less where we're ranked. Baseball polls are worthless. The publicity is nice, but there is no real tangible benefit to being raked #9, #99 or anywhere in between.

Bocephus, did Rice hit like the #1 team when they won it all? Hitting will come around...We have proven hitters that look like they might have gotten a fire lit under their bums this weekend.

FSU at #17 seems odd.

I was one of the "sips" that posted about that BA poll previously, but, I never said that they were biased against Texas...I said that they were sticking with Tulane because they had Tulane on their cover a few weeks back and had a big write up about how the were the "best team in America"...and they were not ready to give up on them, no matter how games Texas won in a row or how many sweeps of top 10 teams we had.

But I completely agree that these polls are meaningless except for the publicity that they genererate for your program.

Host a regional and be in the top 8 to host a to possibly host a super...that's all that matters.

I wouldn't say that the polls are meaningless. Perception counts for a lot.

But I will say that the only people who even know about baseball polls are people who follow college baseball very closely because the sport gets no outside press. But if you're going to have a poll, don't make it a bogus one just for the sake of selling a few magazines. That's my beef with Baseball America. It is the equivalent of the AP poll in college football.

College baseball is weirder than semi-pro hockey.
