I don't ever remember the turf being in as bad shape as it was this season. The only reason I can think of it letting it be in such poor condition is if you're planning on redoing the whole surface.

I noticed it particularly after tu series. I don't know if the tarp issues got too wet and didn't recover. Looked like they tried to resod but never recovered.
I saw Trev at Home Depot buying the green paint on sale.

I would say add a third deck… but with the attendance last night it would be a waste

I think they should relocate the visitor's bullpen to right-center, raise right field fence, and extend section 12 to foul pole. Would be a pretty cheap modification and add some decent seating

Agree. Especially when our grass is typically greener than the turf
It used to be grass and always looked like crap by the end of the season in the paths to and from the plate.

Agree. With space around the field being so tight to develop, the visitor's bullpen should not have that good of a spot for viewing.

How many schools have 100% grass?
I request a scoreboard like this along the second deck railing. With BIG numbers.
I just want the line score to always be visible. It's not visible between innings when they're playing commercials on the big screen.

I think it's accurate to say that we planned to do a full field renovation when we renovate the seating, which makes sense because the field dimensions will certainly change a little bit around the periphery.
However, if those renovations don't have a definitive timeline (and they don't), then, is the situation with the field such that we need to go ahead and re-do it, anyway, without waiting for the full renovation? I tend to believe that we should, as I don't think we are going to do the seat renovation until someone writes a big check.

I can help with the grass thing, but I would need to be able to talk to someone with the power to make changes. A part of the problem is our water sucks. Even the best agronomists can't overcome our water.

Supposedly that has something to do with the longevity of the field. They'll do some stuff to the base/drainage and resod with new grass is what I understand. And replace the turf that's already there in foul territory behind home.

My understanding is that all irrigation on campus, from the green spaces around buildings to the athletic fields, uses the same water as the faucets and toilets and everything.
So it's potable, but the chemistry of the water suuuucks for keeping grass green because of the salts and pH. There are lots of ways to fix that, which would also help with some of the drainage, and you'd go longer between resodding. Some of those methods are realistic and others aren't. But it takes someone with the power to sign the check to make those happen.
The A in A&M stands for Agriculture Grass all the way.

The 2nd and 3rd decks on the student side are all thats left of the "Old Kyle Field"
There are some areas of Olsen Field that remain from before the rennovation..but one thing Im going to be sad to see go is the big stadium lights and being replaced with the LED lights.
I love the way a bank of lights look , just something about it thats old school stadium style lights. They are nostalgic.
New LED lights just look like poles with nothing on top... so boring looking.
Modern is not always better.
Some of you younger generations will understand this the older you get.

The cost savings and energy efficiency from LED lights is massive over the old lights.
Plus, they don't take any time to warm up to full brightness like the old lights.
they are currently replacing the lights at soccer. My guess is once Olsen is done they will have replace all the lights with LEDs

I agree with you. Stadium lights look cool.
I think the quality of light from the LEDs is worse, too.
