What is the real story on this? I thought both had off season surgery for the shoulder / meniscus respectively , yet within first weekend both had same injuries rear their head. Was this a rehab issue, lesser surgery than a full fix, a late start, too early a return or no actual surgery in the off season. Something never added up with how quick they were both hindered with the same injuries that they went into the off season with

Gavin had wrist surgery in the off season. He did rehab for the shoulder but it wasn't so bad he couldn't play. He reinjured the shoulder bad enough that he couldn't play through the pain.

Schotty had pure bad luck. He had surgery to repair the meniscus in the off season and then reinjured that same knee.

Yep. I would like to see this #12 "tradition" retired before the 2026 season. That was started by our former coach, so it's not like something we've been doing for 100 years. Plus, the 12th Man is a football thing. Let baseball, basketball, and other sports do something different.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

I'd be fine with the 12 in baseball mirroring football. Walk on, never plays, lunch pail guy, etc.

12 is a great football tradition but it should stay in football. In any other sport it should just be a number.

Last year we had Ryan Targac and after a great season the year before he ended up being a base coach

The year before was Austin Bost and after having a great year the year prior he too ended up batting last in the lineup and rarely getting hits.

The last solid 12th man Aggie baseball has seen was Troy Cluanch in 2022.

This year, Schott started the season as a starter and ended only playing because of the injuries.

Just next year please dont give it to Keil or Sorrel.

If offered #12 on the baseball roster, run the other way.
