Is there anyone they believes we will have a better record next year without Prager, Lamkin, and Tubbington? Or the next year?

The roster holding themselves hostage can piss off, if you love coach Earley so much you don't get swept by the worst SEC team of all time. You also don't don't go through the motions for half the season and lose to a bunch of teams that you have no business losing to.

Schloss came in with a depleted roster and gave Texas A&M the best season in school history year 1 and knocked tu out of the college World Series.

Good coaches can find the roster to win.

This. Nobody should worry about players leaving.

Keeping a roster intact might have been somewhat of a logical reason in the past. Even then, it wasn't very wise.
Now that we are in the wild west of the portal era, it shouldn't be a reason at all.
I want these young men who chose to play for my alma mater to stay and succeed here, of course. But if they put a coach above the university so much that they will play elsewhere, then we are no longer on the same page.

Well said. We panicked. I lay all of this at Trev's feet. I think Schloss got ticked at cuts in staff and delays and then CDC swooped in like a hawk.

Then we made a 12 month decision to hire Earley. Remember, he left us to go to ATX. Wasnt like he stayed out of loyalty. We panicked on keeping a roster together.

Now, we are stuck with bottom 1/3 coach for a while. No chance Trev fires him. Too cheap to pay two baseball coaches. Our problem is at AD level.

We need guys who play like Aggies (real Aggies, not Aggie athletics).

We didn't panic at all. It was as our old friend once said, a no flippin win situation. It was WAY too late in the process to do anything other than what we did, which was swing for Vitello and settle with a chance at keeping a historically talented future roster in place. We would not have been able to land choices 2-5 last year due to the timing so we'd have fully committed to a younger up and coming HC who would have been very hamstrung out of the gate.

The decision was fine. The massive error will be if we don't make the change when we have a free chance to right now. And for the first time I'm worried we're going to do just that.

He ain't going anywhere. No money to buy him out. Why would a first year HC have a buyout?
