I feel you, but the end of 1989 was way worse. What a gut punch. I'm still not over it.

The powers that be should be worried that apathy sets in.

I finally let go of the worst of that last year.

But I still remember.

It's such a shame...so many decades of Aggie baseball being a constant when other Aggie teams sucked.....ahem football....and now we get the current state of Aggie baseball

Doc that's the perfect word for how this season has drained my soul. So much emotion to start the season. So much hope.

2016 was ALMOST as bad as 1989. Almost.

That 89 game was the birth of my BAS. If that team didn't win a natty……….

2016 was probably my lowest point since 1989. Until this season.

I don't have any preconceived notions that we will win the tournament this week. All I want is a fun week of baseball… give me at least two good wins and I'll be happy.

Totally feel the same way. Hoping to watch some good baseball and see us win a few! Would love it for the guys, as well.

89 is way up there....but last year has to be as well
Get to final game of cws with the lead.... Despite losing sdao in regionals....despite losing Montgomery in regionals....mere outs away from a natty....kids likely knew Schloss was going to Texas.... But still mere outs away......

Seven outs. What happened on the field got overshadowed by the drama after. But still seven outs away. Only consolation is POS doesn't have a ring. Hope it stays that way.

You mean "constantly" mediocre? We been to the college baseball World Series 4 times since 2000 (and only 4 times in our entire history before that).

Melancholy is a great way to describe the end of this season. 1989 (I was also there) and 2016 were different. Those seasons gave us reason to have hope all the way up to the bitter end. But 2025 is different. I want to be excited about the team. I want to enjoy it all. But instead, I'm kind of just floating through it with no expectations.

Melancholy. Great descriptor.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

I wasn't around for 1989, but I know that was probably the best chance to win a national title besides last year that we had.

Mine will always be my senior year, which was 2016… We had the lineup, the bullpen and the rotation to win it all. Couple that with the previous years super regional against TCU and it was just a brutal finish to a team that I really think could've won it all Especially given who was waiting at the end in the national title game.

Last year being in Omaha for game 3 of the finals was a bittersweet feeling… I wasn't even mad about us losing the game at the time because I thought we would be back and win a national title very soon. But of course, given all the things that have transpired since then… Now that game feels a lot more empty and that's the one I wish we could have back now.

Well, it's hard to win a national championship series without 100% focus. We had nowhere near that amount of focus because of POS. And he knew it, as well as his butt buddy over in Austin. They knew exactly what they were doing and had no interest in A&M winning a national title.

Yep. But at the time we didn't know that. Even on my drive home from Omaha I was content (until about 5 PM that evening when the news broke)

2016, I felt all year we were going to win the title. I've never felt that way about an Aggie baseball team for the whole year, before or since. Not even last year. I still hold that if we had made it to Omaha that year, we would have won it all.

Who was waiting in the national title game? Arizona. Not exactly a pushover.

I remember sitting with my buddies in Omaha eating lunch before game 3. Just found out that morning that Pierce had been fired and we all thought something may be fishy with the timing. Like you, found out the final news somewhere around Ft Worth on the drive home Tuesday. Irate would be an understatement.

I thought they would try to hire Vitello or O'Sullivan. So I wasn't even concerned.

Didn't even cross my mind to consider Schloss leaving for Austin

We were 7 outs from winning it all last year.

Right afterwards our great coach (yes, not a great person but he's being paid to coach) runs off to our rival.

Ranked preseason number 1.

Go 0-3 at home Vs SEC team that went 0-28 in the league. This one still blows my mind.

More than likely not even making the postseason.

If you are a hardcore Aggie baseball fan and not frustrated at this present time, I might question your sanity.

I still wonder what it would have looked like had we won. Like would we have even had a parade? Would they have waited until after or would it be a parade with pissed off players and no coaches?
