I finally let go of the worst of that last year.EVA3 said:
I feel you, but the end of 1989 was way worse. What a gut punch. I'm still not over it.

2016 was ALMOST as bad as 1989. Almost.
That 89 game was the birth of my BAS. If that team didn't win a natty……….

You mean "constantly" mediocre? We been to the college baseball World Series 4 times since 2000 (and only 4 times in our entire history before that).trip98 said:
It's such a shame...so many decades of Aggie baseball being a constant when other Aggie teams sucked.....ahem football....and now we get the current state of Aggie baseball
Well, it's hard to win a national championship series without 100% focus. We had nowhere near that amount of focus because of POS. And he knew it, as well as his butt buddy over in Austin. They knew exactly what they were doing and had no interest in A&M winning a national title.tjack16 said:
I wasn't around for 1989, but I know that was probably the best chance to win a national title besides last year that we had.
Mine will always be my senior year, which was 2016… We had the lineup, the bullpen and the rotation to win it all. Couple that with the previous years super regional against TCU and it was just a brutal finish to a team that I really think could've won it all Especially given who was waiting at the end in the national title game.
Last year being in Omaha for game 3 of the finals was a bittersweet feeling… I wasn't even mad about us losing the game at the time because I thought we would be back and win a national title very soon. But of course, given all the things that have transpired since then… Now that game feels a lot more empty and that's the one I wish we could have back now.

I remember sitting with my buddies in Omaha eating lunch before game 3. Just found out that morning that Pierce had been fired and we all thought something may be fishy with the timing. Like you, found out the final news somewhere around Ft Worth on the drive home Tuesday. Irate would be an understatement.tjack16 said:Wabs said:Well, it's hard to win a national championship series without 100% focus. We had nowhere near that amount of focus because of POS. Yep. But at the time we didn't know that. Even on my drive home from Omaha I was content (until about 5 PM that evening when the news broke)

I found out on my drive home as well. Still think it was such a jerk move... I wasn't even home before he left.
