Thank you to both of you. After the game, my son wanted to stay around and get autographs. Thank yall for actually taking the time to talk to my boy. It was his first Aggie game ever, and he is hooked now. Begging me to go back tomorrow.

Probably not a good night to start this thread. I'm going to step aside now as things start incoming...

On a bright side, Jace looked like his normal self tonight.

I think most of us are capable of separating the human element from the on-the-field disaster

That's a good bull story

Offense did their job tonight, bullpen on the other hand was an abysmal dumpster fire.

Even more impressive to show character after tonight's setback.

Fully agree. No doubt that was tough for them. Adversity reveals character.

+1.

The folks that will take this to heart will appreciate it, and probably timely for those guys as well.

I wish more people could put wins/loss aside sometimes. Yes last night sucked. Support the kids, support the coaches. If they weren't disappointed in the result, then I would say we have a huge problem

This is a great thread and let's not derail it, but the moment players starting dictating decisions and taking hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars, that mentality went out the window.

Glad to hear of the autograph story, but these players aren't "kids". They are well compensated professional athletes with unlimited free agency. The idea that they are "kids" went out the window when they started getting 5, 6, and even 7-figure salaries to play a college sport.

I don't disagree that we should expect better results. But I doubt you have been through what they have been through at the age of 18-22. The emotional roller coaster the past year, nothing was off the table. And they are still kids, just kids with lots of money.

There is a kid here. The kid in the OP. How about we let this dad express the joy him and his son experienced together at the ball yard without clogging up his thread with a bunch of negative BS. There are plenty of other threads where we can go to *****. Or ... novel thought ... we can just remain silent.

Glad your son had a good experience, 1991. Hope there are hundreds more to follow. The world could use a whole lot more fathers being involved in their kids' lives.

Well...I'll bet at that age I had been through every bit as much as what these guys have been through. At that age, I was scratching and clawing my way through college, wondering every month how I was going to pay rent and the electric bill, working 2 and 3 jobs at a time trying to save some money to pay for the next semester, taking a full load of in-person engineering classes, and driving 2+ hours home every other Friday to take my mom to chemotherapy.

So, yea...I think I could have found a way to deal with a head coach taking another job while I was getting a 6-figure salary to play baseball and take a few on-line classes.

Look, I love the guys and love all of the other athletes at A&M. But facts are facts...these dudes are paid professionals with a whole lot of our money in their pockets. They are paid to produce wins. Period. Hard stop.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

The fact that seven people agreed with you on that thread is just pathetic. Be an adult and separate it. Quit acting like a spoiled child.

In fact, that just shows you what kind of good people they are their and their character that they would be willing to do that after such a bad loss.

Good Lord some of you. Just embarrassments.

Look I'm not going to argue with you about life experience. I mean from an athletes perspective. If you don't think these kids want what you want. You are not paying attention. You can tell they are crushed.

I do not disagree with you. But the bottom line is that they're paid handsomely to WIN. End of story.

This will go over like a lead balloon, but someone who was at the game told me that the Mizzou players were so happy, and that they had almost no fans there to celebrate with them. They watched the fireworks too, apparently. Our team did not. (That's not a criticism.)

I hate that A&M lost but I can also be a little happy for Mizzou. Imagine if the team roles were reversed.

The point for me is that real people play and follow sports. There's nothing wrong with empathy or pointing out positives like op did with this post.

Our boys wanted to hang around and meet Jace. He came out smiling, talked to the boys, did autographs, and took a picture. Class act on and off the field. Several other players signed autographs too and they were all very kind to our sons. Not easy after dropping a game like they did last night.
1991sir
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Not easy at all. I felt bad hanging around, but they were class acts.

Yes, the guy (along with literally the entire rest of the team) who immediately put his name in the portal at the first sign of adversity, then held us hostage not to leave by demanding more NIL along with our capitulation to his coaching demands, or he'd walk, has truly embraced what it means to be an Aggie.

Do you know why he can walk around tonight without a care in the world after a season ending loss like tonight? Because he still gets paid, no matter what! Not because of like the "Aggie Spirit" or whatever else you guys have convinced yourselves inhabit our student athletes.

I think I counted 10 or so black and yellow outfits. It's hard to completely lose every single conference game.. they were going to slip up and get someone, unfortunately it was us.

Nothing Jace did right after POS screwed us was outta line. Get a grip, and again, go to your own team's fan site and leave us Ags alone.

Because money is all that matters, right?

OP was a great story. Too bad some here can't be adults about it and let that story exist without trying to make some "our players are paid so they can't be humans" point.

The likelihood of them not getting on the right side of a conference game at least once in a season was pretty unlikely. Happy for them that they don't have the gorilla of a 0 on their back anymore for sure.

It's wild that this very human OP is getting any kind of grief when there are approximately 8 other threads on the front page to gripe on.

Baseball is fun. It's a kids game even in the MLB. When players show up to be decent humans, it's perfectly acceptable to celebrate them for that, even if they lost that night..and this loss certainly wasn't on Jace.

OP, I hope your son never gets cured of the baseball bug. It's a great and wonderful sport...and losses build character.
