1. Aggie pitching staff leads the SEC with fewest given walks (both in SEC play and overall)

2. Pitching staff getting more dialed in as the season progresses. Young relievers like Caden McCoy starting to lock down.

3. The x7 runs that LSU scored this weekend on us? The lowest number they have put up in an SEC Series

4. The fish teasip closer gave up a 3 run bomb to arkansas this weekend, max weiner can go pound sand.

Carry on, JK!

The pitching staff is doing great.

Relievers getting better! Just more consistency needed. Like the potential for the remaining games.
We were spoiled last year.... when Ash came in, the game was over!

Did he recently take over calling pitches? Saw this somewhere that mentioned that.

From here: https://texags.com/s/67221/earleys-aggies-keep-grinding-down-the-regular-seasons-stretch-run/8

"Jason Kelly took over calling pitches, and he's had a lot of success. He has done a phenomenal job alongside Jace Hutchins, who has been a great addition to the staff and Jack Mahala. They are doing exactly what I thought they would do. When you lose two phenomenal relievers, to be able to step back in and be in a similar spot is really, really impressive. It's a big luxury for our ball club."

All of their names begin with J.

FYI, if you listen to the actual audio, Earley says JK "took over a pitching staff that's had a lot of success" not that he took over calling pitches.

That makes sense. I never listen to the audio.

So it was misquoted! I was wondering why I didn't see more chatter about this

And he's doing this without Sdao, who was likely projected as our Saturday starter, and Stewart who most people were thinking would be our next Asch.

This, i had no idea when the season began we would be without these two arms all season. Maybe I was just optimistic or dumb but here we are.

You were dumb about Sdao.. We've known he would be out since fall.. Stewart got hurt early in the season and it was only like a month ago that we found out he wouldn't be back at all.

Preseason, if you'd have told me we'd have these pitching numbers in May, I would have said we're still the #1 team in country. Pitching has been good to very good; if the offense were even average we're still hosting a Regional and in the hunt for top 8 seed...

Also, to post with a much better emoji, JK and the pitching staff have been great. We might not have the top starter any night, but our top 3 are as good as any. And relief pitching has really come on strong the past month or so.

Who was calling them? The catchers?

Troy Wansing is also still on the roster and injured. If I remember correctly, he was our top reliever the season before Asch. That makes 3 of our top 5 pitchers out due to injury.

Just keep improving, hit the post-seaon as you're peaking and make a run through the whole thing like Ole Miss in '22.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

In your defense, I don't think we were top 25 in ERA in the middle of March. The guys, and especially the pen, have really turned it on over the past month.

I'm here to eat crow on JK. I've been critical, and they've been very good. Hope they keep it up.

The starters were very good early, then had a few setbacks, but the relief pitching was an issue. Some of that is the staff finding out who to go to and some of that is some guys absolutely stepping up with the season on the line. Great stuff that's absolutely kept us in the postseason hunt.

Well then, by D1 logic, we should still be rated in the top 10. Wasn't that their logic for leaving tu no.1 after they were embarrassed by Arky this weekend, they had injuries?

No sir, the logic of D1 rankings is both overall body of work + recent stuff. The 'sips are still ranked #1 because this was their first series loss all year. They had beenso dominant all year, and built such a dominant lead over every other program, they can get swept and still remain #1.

If there was a clear team to dethrone them, they would have (ie if LSU had beaten us, they would be #1).

I will also raise my hand and say that 6 weeks in I thought he was an abject failure of a hire. I was very disappointed. But the staff had looked very good the last month.

One of the big things that's changed is who we are calling on as well. It's not the same names in the same spots. To keep this positive I'll just say that Moss and Wilson have stepped up and done a phenomenal job this last month.
