This team has quit. Our AD panicked and we hired the wrong coach in the most short sighted decision ever

What contingency plan would have fixed the fact that we didn't have an opening until June 26? You can do all the planning and talking to coaches that you want, but there wasn't a coach out there who would have been in a position to replace the talent we were going to lose to the transfer portal because of the timing. It made the job much less attractive than it will be this year, even if all our top players head for the portal, because the new guy will be able to get in the portal when plenty of talent is still available (and know he'll have a pretty low bar to clear in year one regarding expectations).Maroon Flash said:
Big time failure by AD to have a contingency plan in place, also allowed players to influence Coach selection
Now we need to buy out the complete coaching staff and start over. This is a colossal screw up.

With the series loss, Texas A&M drops to 1-8 in the SEC and has to go to Tennessee next weekend.

At least dating back to 1996, no preseason No. 1 team has missed the NCAA tournament. Even getting in contention would require an incredible run by A&M. https://t.co/AXpnHHpFyx
I think if things stay the same in CS the rest of the year, they will make a move based on what I know.

So who coaches Kiel, Bear, Hensler, Royo and Sorrel? They are all well above average this year?sellthefarm said:
It's his program so yes. When everyone underperforms what we know they are capable of you have to place the blame somewhere.
Yeah, I would at least let Earley recruit for one offseason. He's kind of been stuck with this roster as late as we finished last year.Biggame12 said:Move on from what??OBJTEX said:

Jace hitting .278
Kash hitting .230
Kent hitting .230 and an error machine
Binderup hitting .162 for his 2nd year
Gavin Hurt
Caden hurt
Schott hurt
Farr not ready for SEC play
Galloway hitting .220 for 70% of the season.
This doesn't even quantify our relief pitching and how atrocious it's been.
If you really want to move on then you have your move on from all of this!!
Do you really think Mike Early is the reason for all of this??
I know we have some injuries that are a big impact, but isn't this the lineup that everyone wanted and why we hired Earley so these guys wouldn't leave? I am honestly a little confused about all the talk regarding the lineup. We were applauding their loyalty (even in commercials for A&M) and now some are saying the lineup is no good.Ag1188 said:Yeah, I would at least let Earley recruit for one offseason. I have to agree. I find it shameful that we talk about building champions and we allow what is going on in women's soccer and basketball. With all the talk about Buzz and now Earley, their should be two other coaches included in that conversation. I realize their is no comparison regarding revenue among those 4, but hard to listen to our building champion mantra and then watch what is happening across the board.hunter2012 said:
With the way Trev treats soccer and women's basketball, isn't it highly likely that he keeps Earley until he contract runs out in 3 years? Our AD is among the top penny pinching ADs in the country. Why would he make a change? Records are clearly irrelevant to him.
Maybe, but baseball is a unique circumstance. We made the hire for short term reasons because circumstances (trying to hire a new coach at the end of June when most players in the portal had already landed new positions, and our whole roster was likely to leave) left us with no good alternatives. Believe it or not, the job would be more attractive this year than it was on June 25, 2024.hunter2012 said:

At first I thought it was a gut feeling. Now I'm starting to suspect that it's just denial.

I have a cheaper fix.... buyout the AD
Hmmmm, and Nebraska is the common denominatorhunter2012 said:
