I had to deal with it in high school after being hit in the head made me overthink everything. The easy throws to first from SS were a nightmare. The easier the play, the more time to think about the throw, the more you start to think about the ball in your hand which leads to aiming, and then it just goes wherever it goes. With quick plays that are more difficult, you make the play instinctively without having enough time to think about it. Which is why this catcher can make the throws when someone is trying to steal. A tough play in the hole was more likely to get an out than a couple easy hops right at me. I had the same with pitching, but worse, since there's no ability to not overthink it. Just grab and throw was the only chance.
It's a horrible thing for a player to have to go through. Once you get it, it's almost impossible to get past.
