SWAC tournament going to Rickwood Field.
Considering how so much of our confrence is based in Birmingham, I'm shocked with the renovations they haven't jumped at the opportunity to play some SEC ball at Rickwood. With the amount of history there an SEC/Sun Belt challenge tournament there would be amazing.

That would be pretty cool with the right teams

Teams would need bullet proof vests.

Cool stadium and I would love to see us play there.

But not sure it would be much of a challenge. Is there any SEC team that would lose a series to a Sun Belt squad?

Oh definitely, the Sun Belt is a very good baseball conference. There are a couple teams in there who would regularly win the Big 10.

It would also help diversify strength of schedule for RPI purposes

Louisiana? They make the tourney most years and eliminated tu last year.

Southern Miss? Even better lately. Hosted supers in 22 and 23.

Yes? People talk about Power 4 conferences, but in baseball, the Power 4 is SEC, ACC, BIG 12, and Sun Belt.

Um...to those of us in the know...it's called the "Fun Belt" Conference for a reason...

Use it as the second site for the SEC Tournament which would allow pool play with four pods. It would guarantee 3 games for every team with the max number of five for the two teams that advance to the championship. Using two sites gives some flexibility for weather delays or even a day off for teams if weather is good. Pluses of such a system, possible RPI boost for those teams on the bubble with three games against mostly quality opponents and makes a miracle run for a team that must win the tourney somewhat possible. Anyways, better than the single elimination tournament we're going to get this year. The idea is discussed in this thread along with a few other proposals of what to do the the tournament.

Coastal's first season in the Sun Belt was the year after they won the CWS. Prior to that they were the Big South Conference.
