LOT of ball to be played of course but this is the first time I've heard Trev speak and I like what I heard and saw.

What we do know is that he has just navigated his first actual test as an AD. Both in Schloss leaving and the coaching search and subsequent hiring of Earley and then this press conference. I fully believe he and his help did the due diligence warranted by the position and severity of the hole we found ourselves in. I also fully believe Earley is just that good to go toe to toe with established head coaches and won that job fair and square. (Once he got his foot in the door from recommendations of course).

So yes, I know we haven't even gotten to wins/losses columns yet but so far I feel confident that whatever else may come, Alberts will be able to meet it in at least a proficient manner that will benefit the school and its people. Something I did not always have faith in with the previous person.

So from having this basically nightmare worst case scenario dropped in his lap with less than 3 months in the job to me grinning like an idiot at the presser a week later, I have to give Alberts an A as of right now.

I agree. He gets that in this day and age you have to run a major University Athletic Department essentially like a Professional Sports organization. Because that is essentially what it is. No more "money whipping" everything. I really think he will be a successful AD. The next 5-10 years of Aggie Athletics has the potential to be great. I can't wait to watch.

Agreed.

Both he and the General have me feeling pretty good about our current situation. It's probably the first time as an Aggie I could say that about both at the same time.

A+++

IF

Earley goes to Omaha and the team plays to their known talent level.

Only time will truly tell. But I feel very, very good about our future with our new leaders and coaches.

You immediately liked me the first time we met, so......I don't know that that says much.

Albers was saying "when we wrap this up…..". I think it's when he mentioned there's cake. He was simply waving his hand when he was saying that. It was related to wrapping up. I saw it when he did it, and was not referencing anything related to it. He didn't make any references to the other school or coach.

I liked it when Earley called out his daughter for not paying attention.

Great perspective and hard agree.

We all may not like it, but the scene of college sports in general has changed. There is nothing you and I can do about it either. So we can clutch our pearls or we can adapt and move on into this new landscape and be the best.

I will admit I was hesitant to have any hope when Alberts got hired. Word from Nebraska side was pretty meh. But he did very well in this mess we found ourselves in and put our university in a great spot. It might be copium and I know it is not done yet but the first steps out of one of the biggest blows this program and school has taken, might actually be the BEST case scenario we could have hoped for at this stage.

My emotions have been whiplashed to crazy extremes in just a week but I am ready to be hurt again. Earley, Alberts, Welsh, and of course the team have me very optimistic about our future. Nice change of pace for me.

Can't get an A when he let ****e and schlong execute a hit on our baseball program while being told it was coming.

Nice recovery but an A wasn't available when you average both grades together imo.

Disagree with this take. He handled it this way to not affect the teams post season run. That should be easy to see.

I do agree with you to an extent. He didn't hire or fire Jimbo creating the $$ shortage.

It's unrealistic to think you can prevent "hits."

It's how he got us up off the mat in such an amazing and quick way that gets him the A for how he handled this coaching change.

I might be wrong on this but from what I get the "knowing" is not painting the full picture. Billy and Brauny have been saying that as well but have also been stressing that that is just what they heard from one side with not only no corroborating rumors from our side but actual abject lies when Schloss was approached by this. I figure Trev is the same way. Yes, he heard it. And we do know for fact he had talks with Schloss about it. Now, Trev has not outright said what Schloss said back in those meetings and I doubt we will at this point but my head canon is that Schloss at the least made some noises that it was wrong/misconstrued and he would be staying.

IOW, I think the term "knowing" is nuanced here. With the power of hindsight it is true of course. Back then it was smoke with an orange glow and when Schloss was asked, there was no fire and all was good. So yes, Trev had rumors and took them seriously enough to approach Schloss about. And what was said back mollified Alberts. Enough at least that no actions were undertaken that would mitigate the eventual betrayal.

I know it's all he said/she said at this point but if that above holds true like I think it does, Alberts should be absolved from the wholesale blame of being caught flatfooted.

No AD gets a good grade who: (1) loses his school's best coach, especially to its biggest rival; (2) whiffs on hiring his top replacement choices; and (3) hires someone who has never been a head coach and snuck off to a rival school only days before (and may even have been illegally recruiting for the rival before he left). Alberts pissed off Schlong when he fired his buddy. You don't do that to your best coach.

Where the **** is everyone getting this best buddy bull***** POS and Chris Park had never ever worked together. This was the first time they were ever at the same school at the same time.

1-Incorrect, you should know this. Not worth debating you on this one when you don't even understand this one.

2-What, his final two after meeting with 9 coaches were Tony V and Earley. So they were his top choices. Tony V stayed and there is many reasons to respect that one. Tony V and Early appear to be very similar to me. Players coaches, driven among other areas.

3-See number 2 above.
