Hadn't thought about Pringles in a while. Those were some fun times.

This is why I love Schloss. He understands that with the resources, population/alumni numbers, and passion there is no excuse for A&M to be behind other programs. And he's not afraid to speak the truth and challenge everyone to be better. What a breath of fresh air. Oh, and it also helps that he can actually coach and recruit top talent and get results. What he has done in less than 3 years is very impressive. Great article.

"If you look at the SEC West -- just in our division -- since 2012, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Alabama and LSU have either built brand new ballparks or done major renovations since then," Schlossnagle said. "Auburn has spent more money on their stadium than Texas A&M. We're the biggest school with supposedly the most money. Kyle Field [102,733, largest stadium in the SEC] is to college football what Olsen Field should be to college baseball."

"Do you want somebody who cares so much that they're into every single detail to make the program great? Or somebody who doesn't care?" Alberts said. "We've got a guy leading our baseball program that understands the importance of the details and is a high-level executor. And quite frankly, that's why we've got a top-five baseball team in the country."

I mean he looks across the street every day and sees our perpetually mediocre football program get another $100M indoor facility seemingly every other year. Meanwhile we couldn't muster indoor batting cages for what's turning into an annual title contender.

As long as he keeps winning I think he'll get what he wants. Football will always be king but SEC baseball viewership is starting to blow up and A&M has the opportunity to be one of the biggest names in the sport. There is nowhere near the level of financial competition as there is on the gridiron; the price of that extra football practice field will get you the nicest baseball stadium in the country, and the NIL asking price for a portal QB will get you the best baseball roster in the country.

Texas may be the most successful baseball program in NCAA history, but A&M could be the most successful with people actually tuning in to watch.

Good article. Gives you a peek inside his head a little bit. I like his drive. He's not wrong. We SHOULD be a monster.
The next 3 weeks or so can go a long way toward accomplishing that

" Traditions are awesome, but traditional thinking is not awesome," he said. "We've worked hard to try and find that blend of honoring A&M and everything that it is and its core traditions. But at the same time, we're making our game and our program attractive to a 15-year-old because that's who we're recruiting."

Good chance I'm going to be pasting this quote 1,000 times on multiple boards on this site in the future. Absolutely perfect summary of where we are and where we need to go in all sports.

If you ask the zoo this and they'll tell you need to do things to recruit 50+ year old ex students......

Perhaps because we have the $$$$$ to fund things?

He understands he has to find the balance and not ignore his stakeholders that will fund the future. Hopefully the rest of TAMU administration/regents will wake up some day before they have to wait for the 15 year olds to turn 50+.

Totally agree, I agree with the approach. I'm just laughing at the folks in the zoo that dismiss what the incoming generation desires in exchange for ancient traditions. See the DJ debate.
