Sorry not following; I have just started following Aggie softball. Did the 2024 Texas A&M Softball recruiting News have an article that Bobby Spell was a horn graduate and responsible for their pitching recruiting success?

Have heard Coach Ford has two 5 stars and two 4 stars coming next year to pitch. Kennedy will be back.

4 pitchers have signed with A&M. Need 2 to work out. Ignore the rankings we have had some highly ranked pitchers from those services not work out. Some lower ranked work out great. Out of 4 I am confident 2 will make the adjustment to SEC level softball. Just not sure which 2 yet. I trust in Ford's ability to evaluate pitchers.

and yet we almost won the series against these star pitchers and i would argue we would have except for the defensive miscues just throwing to home too many times

If we have the NIL money sure. Last public records I saw texas had about 10x the nil in softball we did. OU was much higher than texas. OK St has also done well on the NIL market.

Maybe that has improved somewhat but you can only work with the money that you have been given.

Despite Texas A&M being a true blue blood in the sport our NIL has been behind other schools.

I should add 5 of the 8 regular position players were tranfers this year. Ford has done well in the portal game and I expect that to continue. I am just not sure it will happen at the OU tu level

My understanding is that this would not be enough.

Agreed that 100k number won't do it. In general can you buy a top pitcher yes. See OU getting an all American transfer from their in state rival. Players will move for money. Top college programs pay more than the pro leagues in a lot of cases

Remember these two names incoming freshman Della Jasinski and Kate Munnerlyn!!! Very solid pitchers and highly rated recruits! They will bolster the pitching rotation!! And I'm holding we can get another proven transfer to give Kennedy a break!

I just learned this weekend that apparently there's a pretty good pitcher here locally at a small Kansas school, Peyton Hardenburger. She's a Junior and committed to Tennessee. Just won her second state title. The final 3 games of the season she struck out 63 batters. Not sure if the competition is any good but that's pretty impressive nonetheless.

I think it will.

If we start buying multiple all Americans off of other teams I will be shocked. I think we go a more traditional method to build a winning program. We will take transfers that impact the team I am sure. We will also recruit and develop high school. The path we are on is good one. Next year next step

Very few High School softball players know of Mike White's playing career in New Zealand and then the US. Not saying it's irrelevant but it's not as big a factor as you are making it. There are many more well know college pitchers on staff at various colleges all over the country.

Anyone that can hold Franklin to 1 run over 2 games is pretty special. 3A-level be damned, Franklin has an elite offense and she absolutely shut them down.

We missed out on her as our incentives were not as much as others (probably didn't hurt that OU was likely headed back to the WCWS this year). We had our chance though.

She's great. Pretty sure Florida is very high on her. Franklin is good. It was fun watching a 2A team beat them at their own tournament.

For the most part, high school stats are worthless, unless you weigh them against competition. Some of these games you're playing against girls that think softball might be something fun to do. I'd say most districts are maybe 3 teams deep. D1 softball players are so much better than you may think, but in some cases, a lot of club ball has to get worked out of them. D1 softball moves so quick. I've seen girls that you literally can't get out, get to D1 and look silly for a while. There are the rare exceptions, though.

Doty plays for good club program and also played for team USA 15u a year ago. She has talent.

Yep. Pitching and defense continues to be the recipe for championships.

Pray that Coach recruits some elite Pitchers. You never know when Kennedy could get hurt, and this last series proved you need 2-3 aces at least and especially to win a title. It would be a shame to waste another season when simply another ace pitcher would've probably got us to this week's World Series.
