Any rumors/news on guys that are on the fence about entering the draft or coming back? Maybe someone like Prager or Camarillo? I'm sure it's safe to assume Montgomery is gone.

What about the high school commits? Sanford, Kiel, etc? Do we think they will make it to campus?

Monty will be a 1st round pick, and I believe Sanford and Kiel have a good chance of getting drafted fairly high. I've seen mocks where Sanford is a late 1st/early 2nd round pick. I have to think that Prager and Appel will definitely draw some interest as well, possibly Cortez too.

Does Appel still eligibility left? He's listed as a Senior. COVID year?

I think

Montgomery is top 10-15 pick

Cortez is likely gone due to draft and leverage

Prager will be the interesting one...I think he is top 50 but with his redshirt year for medical he is got two more years and could use another year to improve draft stock and go another year on NIL money just a matter of his priority of college vs starting professional career

Chestnutt, Appel, Schott, Ashenbeck, Burton, Peevy, Targac all used up eligibility

Cammarillo will be dependant on how high he gets drafted but leverage wise he should likley go if he gets anywhere near slot

I don't remember which one, but either Appel or Schott could come back one more year

pretty sure Schott can come back, Schloss said it in an early interview

Monty looks to be a top 5 pick right now. He's gone, and good for him. I imagine Cortez leaves as he's jumped up draft boards and probably shouldn't gamble on another year of college given his shakiness the last 2 years. Prager is rated decently high, but I bet he could be persuaded to bet on himself and come back for another year. Camarillo could go either way, as hes bot rated as highly as our other players but this season is a big jump and hed be gambling if he came back. Sanford is ranked like a late 1st or early 2nd round pick so I imagine it's a tall task to get him to campus. Kiel's mlb.com ranking and the fact that he's a legacy makes me think we have a decent shot at getting him on campus especially given how the fish have performed this year. I can't remeber the pitchers name (I want to say Sawyer) is also a highly rated prospect and could be a challenge to bring in to the fold. Depending on what the upperclassmen decide to do we could have as few as 3 returning starters. I'm not sure if Appel and Schott want to play bro ball tbh, and both have an additional year afaik.

Montgomery is gone and rightfully so, really doesn't have anything else to prove and is already a top 10 pick. Sanford and Kiel will get drafted but will it be high enough to skip college, hope not but if you can make life changing money you need to take it. Hope Kiel comes to A&M so he can go to the same school his dad did.

Cortez and Prager will get drafted but the question is where?

I believe Appel can play another year if he want to.

Is Prager's velo high enough to make him a top 3 rounds guy?

And if it is not and if he has little chance of improving his velo (I don't know anything about if he does or doesn't), it seems like he would be ready to move on to professional ball to see if he can do it there.

I kind of feel like him being one of the top 3-5 pitchers in the SEC and all of college would place him pretty high unless there are velo concerns even though I am sure there are many hs and college guys with high velo and pitching potential.

What are the thoughts of you who know more?

Prager is like in the 50s on the MLB draft board

now that doesnt really mean too much but like 1st to 3rd round level

since Prager has an injury history...he should probably go if he likes where he is drafted

I've wondered if the Ivy league guys get a free year for 2021 too

Appel & Schott both can come back for COVID year. You can only play 4 in Ivy which is why they came to A&M. Due to extra COVID rules they both have option for another year. Will depend where/if drafted and potential for NIL

I don't remember if Brauny had posted this at one point or I read it somewhere else, but apparently Sanford is a potential 3rd or 4th gen Aggie who's entire family went to A&M and bleeds Maroon. I believe it was vs Auburn earlier this year where he just went to one of the games as a fan.

Obviously, if he gets drafted high he'd probably go, but he seems to be a more unique situation in our favor than your typical draft-risk prospect.

If that is the case, I seriously doubt he returns. His Ks to BB ratio has been great too. I would think someone is going to want him pretty high and even 3rd round should be a good slot for a lefty pitcher.

If I was an MLB team I'd negotiate with SEC schools to become my farm leagues, and use my scouting programs to "advise" HS kids on the schools to attend, what summer leagues to participate in, degree programs to focus on, as well as strength and nutrition for the MLB grind.

NIL as an interesting X factor in college baseball moving forward, there will much more people choosing college baseball over the minors than ever before.

Posted this in the same thread on Premium but here it is again:

Kiley McDaniel for ESPN released his top 150-plus prospects last week. It's ESPN+ material so here are the relevant names for us:

3. Braden Montgomery
37. Wyatt Sanford (A&M Commit)
56. Ryan Prager
80. Sawyer Farr (A&M Commit)
100. Terrance Kiel II (A&M Commit)
126. Chris Cortez

Prager and Cortez line up similarly to what that other list has them. Definitely going to be an interesting draft for us in that I feel like Montgomery is the obvious sure thing to leave, but I feel like we're going to lose a guy or two we didn't expect to lose and bring some guys to or back to campus that we weren't as confident on.

For players to stay, we just need NIL to be around the slot money, right?

Pick 100 slot = $730k (round 3)
Pick 126 slot = $567k (round 4)
Pick 200 slot = $290k (round 7)
Pick 300 slot = $180k (round 10)
Round 11-20 is <$150k or it comes out of a bonus pool

umm likely for some more than that...because once you are not a junior you lose all leverage after your senior year

Meaning if say Cortez was to stay he wouldnt get much after his senior year...now HS players will likely come because they can still get paid after three years in college
