I know this is way too late to ask, but honestly I just have never heard why Troy Wansing is not a part of anything. I haven't even heard his name. Injury? Just doesn't play?

Coming back from injury. Don't recall any details.

Also what happened to Tab Tracy? Is he hurt?

Think he has been injured but I think the hope was that he may be able to work his way back into the rotation soon

Man if Schloss can get Wansing back for even the last half of SEC play it would be huge. Going into tournament play with options to run these pitchers out as starters would be incredible: Prager, Jones, Lampkin, Wansing. What a luxury.

Troy has a back issue. Think they are hopeful he can be back sometime in April. We'll see…

How is he projected for next year?

I think he's going to try and pitch well

All reports are he is healthy and ready to go. The injury is not as severe as initially thought and he's back.

So this year was burned with him only getting 2 outs.

The redshirt rules for baseball are stupid. You can play 1/3 of the season in football and still redshirt. Baseball you throw 0.2 innings and it cost you a year of eligibility. I guess he could ask for a medical redshirt?

Yes, if he comes back he should be able to get a medical redshirt.

Why did we bring Wansing back? I asked this before the season another thread and can't find it. Was it so he could finish his degree and the baseball team could subsidize it? Was it because we were so confident in our bullpen with the addition of Freshcorn and Cunningham we felt we had extra spot on the roster? Another bad decision from a players coach wanting to be everyone friend. Hoping this year was a learning a lesson and Earley is better than this next year.

Aggie sports are not a charity. NIL deals are not cheap and attendance is based on performance.

I wish Wansing well in his future endeavors.

Because he was progressing. He was cleared multiple times to start increasing pitch strength and speed. It led to aggravation of the previous injury and new ones.

And given your comment about charity and subsidizing things, you clearly don't understand the limited amount of baseball scholarships available. That's changing but it hasn't yet.

The only that I'm aware of is stuff available to the whole team, like meals at Cooper's in exchange for social media plugs and gear stuff like Turtlebox and such.

I just don't get the charity comment. Troy was not a make a wish kid. He was a culture piece to the team trying to get back on the diamond. Every bullpen camera after a homerun Troy was the most noticeable. He wasn't a leech on the program. There wasn't a 6 figure NIL + full scholarship price tag on him. He's an Aggie

Agreed. He worked hard trying to get back to playing and he was a great teammate the entire time. He's been a mentor for younger pitchers and done whatever was asked if him while he was rehabbing.

The notion we can limit / censor what people say is mostly false. But the notion mostly non-contributors should address scholarships or other funding is just hassattery…

Check the date. He asked a year ago.

I know Troy held a roster spot. I know he still had several big hurdles to get over before he was going to be able to pitch and at best it would be late in the year. I know we had a top 5 team and I am sure Earley could of leveraged that for a reliever in the portal. I know you can never have enough bullpen guys.

trouble I don't know much about scholarships. I don't know teams only get 11.7 scholarships for 34 players. So can you please tell me how it works. What I do know is that a former teammate was offered a partial and he didn't take it because the school he went to offered him a almost a full ride. I know that teammate wanted to go to A&M real bad but chose the other school because of the offer. I know that decision ended up working out well because he ended up MVP of the College World Series. I also know that likely would not of happened if he went to A&M as much a I wish I was wrong.
