Article about something Clemson is using and it looks similar , it might be part of the radio system that the coach is using to call pitches
Article says some teams are having all position player wear it so they also know what the pitcher is about to throw

Shouldn't allow them to wear it while batting. Way too much chance for abuse.

I wouldn't allow them at all
Not all programs can afford them
I am not a baseball purist but the only thing that I would be ok with is the catcher has an earpiece built into his mask

Coach has something to say he can tell the catcher
