Howdy Ags,
I am sure that many of you by now have noticed that LSU isn't selling tickets for this weekend's Super Regionals. The problem is that they only allotted 600 tickets to us. They ALSO began selling to LSU fans MONDAY, and then "offered" the rest to Ags today. 600 tickets is less that 10% of the stadium Ags and in my opinion is completely unfair and should be against NCAA rules. Of that 200-300 will be used for Comp tickets for family and for the Athletic Department. It just isn't right and provides them with an overwhelming advantage. They also WILL NOT be selling any the day of the game. I might be able to understand not selling/ allotting that many to the visiting team if we were coming from a ways away, like a California team, but with the two schools so close together it is just unreasonable!

Here's the contact info for the correct person to talk to with the NCAA, phone the hell Ags!!!!!! (Lets show'em what the Aggie Network can really do...Maybe we can get this fixed for next year!!!!)

Well, before getting too fired up, I'd kind of need to know more. The only people they were supposed to sell tickets to before this morning were their season ticket holders. If, and this is a pretty big if, but if season ticket holders occupy all but around 600 or so tickets, and if they had nearly 100% of their season ticket holders take super-regional tickets, then, while crappy, that's kind of life, since everyone guarantees their season ticket holders that they will have the same tickets in the post season if they choose.

However, if they sold tickets to people that weren't season ticketholders before today, then you'd have a real beef.

And you expected them to show generousity in regards to tickets when they don't show class in any other capacity? You're naive at best...

wrong, wrong wrong

lsu did not "lock anyone out". the tickets that went on sale monday were for season ticket holders ONLY. the VAST majority of seats in the box are held by season ticket holders- i'd say 90% or higher. I dont know what the a&m allotment was (ive heard 300-600), but its par for the course. the remaining tickets went on sale this morning (probably only a few hundred) to the general public (even a&m fans could have done so online or on the phone). those tickets were sold out in (as i have heard it), less than 5 minutes

LSU sells over 7,000 season tickets. That is why they lead the NCAA in attendance. The only tickets up for grabs were the 600 they sent us (more than I would have thought we would get--thanks NCAA) and a few tickets here and there for LSU season ticket holders who did not exercise the options on their seats. I can't imagine that there were more than 100 of those up for grabs (even if you couldn't go, wouldn't you exercise your option and sell your tickets or give them to friends?).

How many tickets did A&M allow for Clemson fans back in '99? I'm thinking it was in the zero to 250 range.

College baseball is not college football, nor is the baseball playoffs like the NCAA hoops playoffs. Each school is not required to set forth X number of tickets for the other school.

I assure you that if LSU was coming to Olsen, they would have a VERY limited number of tickets available and they would be the crappiest seats in the stadium.

I think the only mistake LSU made was not putting these tickets on sale 3 weeks ago. A&M was by no means assured a host spot for either a regional or a super, but yet they made post-season tickets available to season ticket holders back in mid-May. That way, on the off chance we did get to host, your season ticket people have already been taken care of. All that the ticket office would have to do this week is sell to non-A&M season ticket holders (which would include the visiting team.)

In my opinion, all LSU is guilty of is poor planning...not so much poor ticket allocation.

Thanks for all the clarification... it is just is really, REALLY frustrating.

I'm a student ('05) and it will probably be the last time I get to see some of my friends on the team play... (because they were drafted). It also would have probably been the last game my sister ('01) & I would be able to go to together. It just plain sucks, but I guess that's life.

For any regular person (people who cannot afford season tickets), who might have wanted to go it might as well taken have taken a miracle to even get through this morning (I know I tried), much less get a ticket.

I guess my only alternative is to tailgate and listen. So, see y'all in the parking lot... ;0P

It is correct that LSU has over 7000 season ticket holders...I am one of them...only the season ticket holders were allowed to buy tickets from Sunday night through Wednesday. I admit, in retrospect, LSU should have started taking orders last week, before the regionals but they didn't want to count their chickens before they hatched. We knew if Rice and we both won, we were going to Rice. I know it sucks to not be able to get more tickets for ya'll but think about us is 2001 with the regional down in New Orleans...Tulane gave us less than 1000 tickets for the 11000 seat stadium 50 miles away. They know if they allowed LSU more tickets, we would have outnumbered their fans more than we did already. Many people had Tulane connections and got tickets anyway. I couldn't. Even if you can't get into the games, come, tailgate. You will have a great time. Best of luck to both teams but Geaux Tigers!

Actually Luke,

I found this on the LSU website the other day regarding ticket sales.

Postseason Tickets
In the event that LSU hosts a regional and/or super regional tournament at Alex Box stadium, season ticket holders will be given the opportunity to renew their same seats on-line, over the phone or in person with one exception.

According to NCAA Guidelines, LSU is required to allocate a total of 600 tickets to participating schools in the seating areas between 1st and 3rd base. This guideline requires LSU to relocate a number of season ticket holders in the grandstand and gold seat area every year. The ticket office will send a letter to all season ticket holders who need to be relocated. Relocated season ticket holders will still be able to request the same number of seats but they will be located in a different area. In an effort to better accommodate these displaced season ticket holders, the ticket office will designate a time period where they can exchange their tickets and upgrade to any seats not renewed by current season ticket holders before tickets go on sale to the public. For more information, please contact the LSU athletic ticket office.

Tickets for regional and super regional games will go on sale to the public after season ticket holders are given the opportunity to renew their seats.

The LSU people are correct. I have a ticket for the games, but it is through an LSU season ticket holder who hasn't been able to go much this season. And their season ticket holders would have eaten him alive if he only showed up for regional and super regional games. They are big into loyalty and don't like fair weather fans. I would imagine you can get tickets on game day. Also, there are many people who tailgate and listen to the game, then after the 6th inning of so they open the gates and more people can pack in.

go tailgate if you can't go... .its worth it and fun!!!!!!! then you can go in in the 6th inning...

I would bet that there is a good chance you can find tickets once you get there. The tickets are only being sold in sets for all three games. Some people may not be able to make all three games. If it goes three games, I would bet you find tickets available for Mondays game. Saturday and Sunday may be more difficult. I will probably not make it to the saturday game on time because the friend going with me can't leave until 11am on Saturday.

LSU did just what they should have and just what we would have done. If you buy a whole season's worth, you should be guarenteed a SR seat. They then met the A&M allotment and finally sold to the general public, giving no preference to LSU fans. This is 100% by the book. Instead of whining, go down and scalp a ticket. I can't imagine a college BB ticket ever going for > $50. Pales in comparison to the gas, lodging, etc.

The A&M seats should be good. I watched some of the Baylor series last year and was shocked to see all the Baylor people sitting right behind the plate. Not your usual location for visiting fans in college sports.

I assure you that if A&M were hosting this SR, we would do all that we could possibly do to keep many tickets from getting into the hands of the snaggle toothed swamp rats.

When you host a SR, you get the home field advantage. 600 tickets is quite generous, IMO, seeing how this series is to be played at the Box.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
The 600 isn't generosity on the part of LSU but required by the NCAA if the info above is correct, which I'm sure it is. In 1999, Clemson's section was on the upper deck around the edge of the net on the first base side. If we could have, I'm sure we would have stuck them in the right field bleachers, so it certainly seems to be correct.

We apparently gave our tickets to 12th Man Foundation members, which may be kind of sad for students since they aren't probably TMF members, but you can hardly argue with giving first shot at what few tickets we do get to the people that support A&M athletics the most financially.

Another point, schools have to bid and pay in excess of $100,000 for the right to host a regional or super regional. It only makes sense to take care of your own so you KNOW the seats are sold out. I am glad we got the 600 seats.

What else can we find to whine about?

If you want tickets, suck it up, and buy it at a higher price on ebay or wherever.

LIfe is not fair, sorry... that is just the way it is. Someone will always have an advantage over another, so you can either whine or do something about it.

So stay home, study hard, make alot of money and then you can enjoy being on the other side of the fence. Until then, stop whining.

No offense TXAgg05 you musn't have tried too hard.

Super regional tickets were avaiable to current students starting Monday morning at 8am through A&M's Ticket Office. I got two. As of 11am when I called back to make sure my purchase went through (their ability to check my enrolled status had been down) there were still tickets available. So yeah the people dieing to go had ample opportunity as far as I'm concerned.

I am a former student, 12th Man member, capital campaign contributor, etc and I haven't been able to get tickets through A&M or LSU.

I will test the secondary market in Baton Rouge. I have never been to a sporting event where you couldn't get a ticket. I hope this holds form.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
AustinAg: I know people who did. They apparently just acted faster than you. You can't expect them to hold tickets. We got 600 that were sold to 12th Man members, baseball season ticket holders, and students. If you weren't one of the 600, I'm guessing that it is probably because you didn't act fast enough.
AustinAG
How long do you want to ignore this user?
twk,

You are correct. Monday afternoon was not fast enough for A&M and try as I might I couldn't get through this morning to LSU till 8:25 and it was too late. In retrospect if I would have known how tough it would be to get these tickets I would have pressed my hookups early.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
What can I say? I wish you could go. Heck, I wish I could go (would have gotten tickets, but just can't make it down there this weekend). Chalk this one up to experience--next time we play an NCAA event on the road, you'll know that the athletic department will be getting a small allottment of tickets, but that you have to act fast if you want one. Good luck next time.

From what I hear there are players' family members that don't have them either. Now that would really be bad.

I never saw anything posted on Aggie Athletic website that they were selling tickets, so I was planning on waiting to try to purchase tickets on Thursday directly from LSU. Fortunately, I was on Texags when someone posted they were selling them at Aggie ticket office (for current & former students, 12th MAN Members, & season ticket holders). I immediately called & was able to get 4 tickets. Then I called a few friends and they also called & purchased tickets.

I'm not sure why it wasn't on the Aggie Atheletic site that tickets were available on Monday.
