No. It was a football specific rule change.

Quote:

12.8.3.1.6 ExceptionFootball. [FBS/FCS] In football, a student-athlete may compete in up to four contests in a season without using a season of competition. (Adopted: 6/13/18 effective 8/1/18 for competition that occurs on or after 8/1/18)

Thanks, I was just curious since my son if a freshman this season in JUCO and its looking like he will platoon at DH but has also been given the option to redshirt. Just not sure what the smartest decision is given he could only see action in a few games or get 10-20 at bats. Seems like the NCAA needs to adjust the redshirt rule in other sports like baseball for a kid that just gets in say 1-10 games or had a minimal number of at bats, innings pitched, etc...

Drip,

I'm curious if the fall games counted against your son and other JUCO guys?

My son is headed the JUCO route this fall as well.

He played a ton in the fall and we were told it doesn't count at all towards any eligibility.

Unless they've changed it, and I can't imaging they have, fall does not count.
