Was there ever any inside info on his development this year? Is he hurt? Did I miss something??

He gets drafted extremely high, has his odd ordeal happen, then eventually comes to A&M. I know that he's a freshman and very raw, but he has got to have tremendous upside and potential, and let's not forget that our coach is considered one of the college games best pitching coaches (let's not comment any further on that). You would think that there would be enough to work with there that would allow him to be more of a contributor.

We'd run other freshman to the mound, but Conlon gets 2 appearances on the year? Was it ever talked about what was going on there?

I thought there were some questions about his arm or shoulder after he got drafted. He may have been having some issues, so coach probably decided to let him heal rather than cause additional damage. I may be wrong, but that is what I remember.

Yea he couldn't pass a physical or something for the team that drafted him so he came to A&M, no details were ever released though

Is Conlon going to play summer ball? After all, look what summer ball did for this year's team.

he's going to the Cape, which to me is very strange. College kids with no track record do not go to the Cape.

I could be wrong but seem to recall it was a combination of things keeping him from games.

One was the issue on health - correct about not passing the physical (or at least having some significant issues highlighted) - and that would certainly make sense to keep him out for the better part of the year. The other I seem to recall was his pitch selection...he has tremendous upside but something about how he had not further advanced his development of secondary (or more) pitches.

The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Isn't that what RC does.....develop pitchers?

I think the issue is that he can't throw strikes consistently with even his fastball.

Yes, supposedly. And to be honest, he did a hell of a job with Hoffman this year.

Not consistent and when he did get it over, it didn't have much movement.

the physical stuff with his arm wasn't supposed to be an immediate hindrance, but more of a long term issue according to insiders. i think commanding his pitches was what kept him out of the rotation.

he was perfect on the season and fielded 1.000%. Need to stretch him out next year and see if we can get 4 innings.

Believe that was a part of the negotiations when he opted not to go the pro route and RC promised him a gig in the Cape when he signed last fall. He's known for a while now he would be there this summer.
