not sure if softball has been doing that previously, but kind of a neat thing i think in case some brackets might seem stacked.

anybody have insight or opinion on this (whether baseball should have that?)

Back in the day, the CWS used to do a cross-over while the tournament was in pure double-elimination mode. It was generally a good thing.

To make crossover possible four games would be required to be played on the first day of CWS in order that no team would have a pitching advantage. Softball it generally possible to do this since most games are played in about two hours. In baseball it makes for a very long day for its premier event, one only needs to look at conference tournaments to see this.

I think baseball might could do a crossover for the 2-0 vs 2-1 games with a schedule tweak that wouldn't require more than 2 games per day.
I need to more fully work it out in my head when I'm not in a car about to get car sick, but maybe it is doable. Might require an off day.

It might not be as ideal as softball's crossover---for the 1-1 vs 1-1 games---but it is an option.
